Anyone tried Ghost.org ?

curious to hear some experiences, ghost.org could be the next huge SEO thing and a serious competition to wordpress.

Mediamix 10-16-2013 05:19 AM

I also want to know if people have good experiences with this blog platform...

TwinCities 10-16-2013 07:45 AM

I think Fris said in another thread that he had it installed.

From their TOS
"the Content is not pornographic, does not contain threats or incite violence, and does not violate the privacy or publicity rights of any third party;"

I guess it might be good if you do mainstream though

I just installed it - Blah...

They have gone for simplicity and they have done it - A bit too simple for me though - Maybe as plugins are developed it will be something worth using.....

scarlettcontent 10-16-2013 02:29 PM

no porn ,,,blah

The script has a MIT Licence - You can do what you like with it...

The porn part is to do with the 'Coming Soon' hosted version I assume.....

Fat Panda 10-16-2013 04:25 PM

donated and been following the project

it works fine and is very simple

wouldn't 'no porn' still apply to the MIT license?

ignorance asking here..

That's the standard MIT licence they are using word for word - They can't use it that way and then place restrictions...

If simple blogging is what you're after, it just may be the thing. A competitor for Wordpress? Not yet.

I had never been to that site before. I typed in the URL and hit return and BAM it was instantly loaded. I don't think I've ever seen a site load so fast.

Wasn't like that here....

Thank you, OP. Looks cool. Signed up and will try it out. Looks great for writers, serialists...

been running it for a few weeks now, was an original backer from the kickstarter, its nice, but from a view of a newbie trying to setup a site, its not very installation friendly, as you would see with drupal or wordpress where its automated.

Since its a nodeapp, it takes a bit more than your usual upload, and visit the install script.

So its not something you can tell your average person who is not tech friendly.

But is it worth using? Or is wordpress good enough.

Yeah - Its a pain to install - I used the Bitnami package - Makes it easy to test it at least...

Its pretty useless as it is - In 6 months if the dev community get behind it then it might be worth looking at again.....

IMHO no.

It has no commenting system, its bascially just create posts thats it, if you just want a blog with minimal features then fine, but you wont get the same extensibility of wordpress, at least for now.

And you wont be able to set this up on shared hosting you will need a vps or dedicated with root access.
