Yea, passed the final exam yesterday and everything.

About a year ago I decided I needed a new hobby, something away from computers and regular sports just becomes boring fast. So I spoke to one of the dads one evening at this event at my kids school. Turns out he worked at the local fire department. He said they needed part time people that only had to be on call a week at a time every third week and since I can choose to work from home, it was a good match. I can do my regular job and only have to run if the alarm goes off.

A couple of months later he pressed me again and I went and had a chat with them, we agreed I should try out and hand them an application.

Little did I know that I had to go through this brutal ordeal spending weekends and evenings for a year - I guess they "sold" that shit to me well, cause I really had no idea it was that physically demanding haha. But it's been super fun and I've learnt a lot. Also have a new found respect for that kind of work, cause it is endurance sapping and requires a lot stamina + a ton of different skill sets are applied in different situations.

Naturally I don't do it for the money cause the pay is a joke - but it's a nice feeling to be able to help out in the local community and cutting cars apart, running into burning buildings, driving big trucks and running red lights is a lot of fun haha! :pimp

So sorry to those if you I've just bailed on in the middle of our IM convo and sorry to those I do bail on in the future - this is why :)

This is first response too, in our area (I live in a pretty small town) we are covered with part timers like me. So from when the alarm goes, we have to be at the station, geared up and out of there in max. 5 minutes.

Speed limits are broken on our way to the station when the alarm goes ;)
