I actually bought my first iPad ever this morning. All the kids and the wife have one, but decided to buy one today for myself. Stopped by Best Buy just before 8 AM when they opened, and there was a whopping five people waiting in line. I sat in my car for a few minutes until the doors opened and was in and out in a few minutes. When I left, there was one person waiting.

I have never in my life waited in line to be the first person on my block to own some electronic gadget. Never will be.

I feel like a lot of Apple's steps/decisions have been lacking since Steve Jobs' death.

I disagree. They figured out how to put a computer in a garbage can. How cool is that?

Bought two this morning, haven't set them up yet. It's yawn-meh for me as far as "progression" goes, but I hate to not have the latest toys.

I met with a Windows Phone developer today and he was doing work off his Surface tablet, and it was connected to a huge monitor.
As he was working on his mouse and big normal sized keyboard I realized that the Surface was his CPU. It was really fucking cool to see this thin little tablet doing the work of a traditionally huge tower. AND have a keyboard click into it.

I would get a surface...if only I didnt hate windows 8 lol

I think the ipad mini retina will be a big seller.

If you own a ipad 2 or greater, there really is no need to upgrade.

I have a last-generation iPad, and love it. I use it every day, and when I go to bed I use it to listen to music, watch a movie or read an ebook.

The new iPads are awesome but... there's no reason for me to switch to it. Yes they are lighter and probably faster but... I'm totally happy with mine. My GF Tracy has an even older iPad than mine and she feels exactly the same it works perfectly so no reason to upgrade.

I have been checking the Apple website and reading up on the new Mac Pro. I think I may just go for one... though I can't quite justify a reason to buy one yet, I just want one... fanboy argh!

I like my ipad 2 it works great and the battery life is great also

If you're running an iPad 2 with iOS 6, you'll be fine from a performance perspective. But having a 1024x768 screen was never something I could live with... which is why I could never bring myself to buy one. I jumped at the chance to buy a 3, with 2048x1536 res... and sold it back in April for the rumored announcement of the 5 in May. Well, that never happened... and since my wife had a 2 before I upgraded her to a 4, sadly I got relegated to the 2.

When I upgraded to iOS 7, it transformed the 2 into a steaming pile of horse shit... and an upgrade to the 5 has been a long time coming.

The 5 is, however, a very nice device. Very thin, very svelte, sexy, sophisticated looking. Black... stealth like. It's the first time Apple has had a full line of similarly designed mobile devices... and I'm now fully impressed.

My biggest gripe when I saw the iPad for the first time was the insanely huge bezel. It was always unnecessarily huge, and greatly detracted from the aesthetics.

The 4 seems like a lead brick now, compared to the Air. You really can't go back.

I'm quite happy with it.

I agree, ipad air is a disappointment, ipad mini retina is better. I own apples, but not upgrading this time.
