How is bitcoin value getting so high if people are still mining them like crazy?

Something does not "add up" here
Who is going to be the first to offer to facilitate trade of fractional coins?

TampaToker 11-18-2013 06:14 PM

how do you figure people mining them like crazy?

Well I would think that the higher the value gets, the more idiots you'd see mining them then

CAHEK 11-18-2013 06:18 PM

LOL it is going crazy now. I have people wanting to buy them and freaking out on me because the price of them goes up 25 dollars every single time we e-mail each other.

MrMaxwell 11-18-2013 06:21 PM

Looks like the bottom is falling out "as we speak" right now

Trading fractional coins? Uh, on the main exchange I use you can buy or sell 0.0001 BTC, if you really want. I believe Bitcoin itself will let you go down to 0.00000001 BTC.

No. Less people are mining because this is no longer profitable. Unless stolen electricity.
Do not forget that mining difficulty increases very fast, not only price.

420 11-18-2013 07:41 PM

There is always the same amount of bitcoins mined per day. Roughly 6 blocks. That's currently 150 coins per hour. The difficulty changes to keep this constant.

It was down on huge volume and now it trades back up on small volume.. odd... the way it was trading made it look heavily HEAVILY manipulated to me. All of the real sales going through at one price and a few wash trade looking prints at 30% higher prices here and there.

I think the senate hearing and all of that is why it is going nuts. We'll see what happens

seeandsee 11-19-2013 03:44 AM

it's because of Chinese money flowing in, and it will take big dump soon

It's getting harder and harder to mine coins. And there's also a limit so they cant be mined for ever.

jscott 11-19-2013 03:57 AM

seeandsee, Haven't you been claiming bitcoins are worthless/useless since way back in the $40 range?
or do i have you mixed up with someone else?
