How Do I Save My Firefox Bookmarks As A File?
 

I need to delete firefox and download it again. I may need to do a system reinstall if that doesn't work. I see how to get my bookmarks back after an update but I don't see how to save the file.

Bookmarks / Show all Bookmarks / Import and Backup & tick "export bookmarks to html"

If you have to reformat (and if you have a virus sometimes it's easier to do that than to try and clean the infection) I would recommend you back up your whole Firefox profile

That way you don't have to re-enter all your saved passwords (along with your bookmarks) when you reinstall :)

yes but check do they import properly, i had some issues in past with that method

Why don't you just sync up your bookmarks? I reformat a lot and it's very easy...I just install firefox and add in my sync passcode and bam! all my bookmarks are back.
