They really need to get back to more action and less drama. I love the scenes where they are going through a fallen city and things like that. The soap opera stuff needs to go.
They could even do a fresh start with a completely different group of people and their experiences as civilization falls. That would be better. |
Early on they typically do a lot of "character/story building." Looks like it's going to start getting interesting next week.
I know one thing, they need to start meeting new people because they are running out of characters to kill off! |
I was actually searching for something to plug off so I decided to watch the first series. Well I'm quite a fan of the zombie genre when done right (such as the Romero movies or I digged Resident evil too).
The first episode / pilot wasn't that bad, it had a good post-apocalyptic feel and I liked the zombie aspect that was provided with great sense for detail. So I kept on watching. However, the real problem started when there were more "characters" introduced, and from around the the fourth episode on, I started to realize someting goes very wrong here. Is it only me or do you also find pretty much all the characters either really annoying ("T-dog", Korean dude, pretty much all the women...) or totally blunt and absolutely non personable? Add the soap opera feel to it (yes it's very likely and important to talk about "feelings" and create useless drama, especially when you're on the run and followed by an army of undead), women maintianing their hair and really retarted attitude, "character development" and "deep dialogues" at the level of a puppet theatre - It's basicaly a bad soap opera mixed with occassional major carnage. I guess that's the magic spell? |
Ya fairly slow and mediocre so far. Pretty cheap setup last night trying to make it look like Maggie just offed zombie Glenn. And of course Carol materializes out of thin air just in the nick of time. Some pretty terrible acting so far too.
Thankfully True Detective is really good. And bring on Game of Thrones! |
I am very excited about the new season, one of my favorite TV series
|
Thought they would cancel it after season 2. Stopped watching it then.
|
This show sucks ass lol. Not sure why anyone watches that shit.
House of cards and maerican horror stories is way better then this dull shit. |
I'm actually getting tired of seeing zombies whacked and stabbed in the head. We don't need to see every single kill, and the closeup CGI effects look bad. How about some clever shooting and editing? The kills we get to see in graphic detail would have more impact if I wasn't so bored with seeing it happen in every encounter.
|
Haters gonna hate I guess.
|
Did ANY of the survivors on this show EVER watch the A-Team? :error
Where are all the creative home-made zombie-killing gadgets they could make? I think the writers could do so much more with this show :2 cents: |

I think it'd be really cool if they tried building a city and eradicating the zombie virus.
Or it might be cool to see how the whole zombie virus came around. All we know is the guy woke up in the hospital and it was already there. |
Pick a piece of farm property, build a giant, deep trench around the perimeter. Zombie problem solved. The only issue might be when the bodies get stacked up so high in the moat they'll have a bridge to walk across, but that would take years if you dug it deep enough -- or find enough gas to burn the bodies every month.

The season is starting off perfectly fine. There are lots of disparate groups gotta kinda catch up with them all and take some time to develop things. Season 3 was pretty much the best season so far, hopefully they don't screw around too much.
That said Carl could be 5000% less annoying and whiny and Carol miraculously saving the day was total and utter bullshit. That needed the slightest amount of effort from the writers to set it up. Just show her driving back for some reason.. to warn about the governor coming with a tank or something.. There is literally NO WAY it's possible to happen upon two children in a forest right at the very second one of them is trying to kill a baby. Also what's up with that.. Carol doesn't notice or mention it? One thing I will get sick of very quickly is much more incompetence. You don't leave two kids with a baby in zombie infested woods to chase after "I'm-being-eaten-by-zombie-death-screams". It's already too late for them.. maybe screaming for help.. Also just once it would be nice if someone looked behind them. y'know.. as some kind of evidence they've managed to survive more than five seconds in the zombie apocalypse. There seems to be a secondary virus affecting their hearing, necks and backs that prevents them from looking behind them before fixedly staring straight ahead for ten minutes in the middle of a group zombie kill. Anyone with a lack of situational awareness would have been culled from the population seasons ago. Fuck, I'm surprised people aren't acting like tweakers knee jerk looking around every 5 seconds like a mouse in an open field with a sky black with owls. |
I hate that in every scene we see : Slow zombies when needed, fast zombies when needed, lots of zombies when needed, less zombies when needed just to make dramatic shit.
Also scene in ep2, where she don't see a fucking zombie until he is 1m from them, COME ON stupiddddddddd! And that asian guy going true 20+ zombies that easy, not bitten yeah right... |
I stopped watching after season 2, keep meaning to give it another chance but have been distracted with Breaking bad, Sons of Anarchy, Game of thrones etc,
it just seems a bit low budget, which is crazy considering how big it is. |
You guys should ask for a refund.

Also WTF was Tyreese doing leaving 2 young girls & a baby alone in the forest while he ran off to help a bunch of strangers in the woods who are clearly being attacked by zombies! The same zombies that Tyreese and the kids have been doing their best to avoid might I add! It's as if the characters in the show have a lower IQ than the zombies trying to eat them. Quote:
1) How come we're into the fourth season and yet the ONLY person who has an effective weapon is Michonne who has a samurai sword! The rest of them are still firing guns that draw attention to themselves 2) Why do noisy slow walking zombies always manage to "sneak up" on the characters and bite them. 3) Why don't they have some form of armour? Glenn gets armoured up in the most recent episode but you'd think after finding shelter and food that would be their next priority considering that if you're bitten once then you're dead Quote:
It would be a much more interesting show if there was a couple of characters who just managed to escape dangerous situations time after time. In Season 4 the majority of characters who died where the Governor's people who might as well of been cast extras because the writers didn't even bother to introduce us to the characters to begin with and consigned many of them to a couple of scenes before they died or where killed off. Sorry needed to have a rant... this show has the potential to be one of the best shows on TV but it's so infuriatingly bad I want to punch the writers! |

Once you realize that "the walking dead" isn't referring to the zombies, the show takes on a whole new meaning.
|
I think the show is better than ever. The group from the prison is separated and trying to survive after the big battle in the mid-season finale. Now they are coming back together and it's setting up the direction of this half of the season. Most of the points made above about why the show is no good are just so, so dumb, I can't even waste my time replying point by point.

Season two suuuccckkkeeddd.. 3 was much better. The writers worked out after two years what actual people would have done in half an hour: Silencers. |
1. No more teleporting zombies.
2. Situational awareness 3. No more insanely dumb decisions ALL THE TIME. The people left have survived for a long time now, they SHOULD NOT BE STUPID. 4. No more scaling zombie skills to the situation. It has been established several zombies are hard to deal with. A one eyed man then can't kill 30 of them in a confined space like the governor did when looking for Andrea at the abandoned warehouse. 5. No more impossible meetups. Carol finding the girls, the Governor finding Andrea at the abandoned warehouse. You need a set up for finding a needle in a haystack. Basically people are irretrievably lost for half a season like Carol's daughter and then they are found INSTANTLY in hundreds of miles of countryside when the writers are lazy. It's largely forests, farms and abandoned backroads. No mobiles, no communication devices. Once someone is out of eyesight with no meeting place they are gone. How many 200 man search and rescue teams have failed to find campers that want to be found? 6. Daryl never seems to run out of arrows even though a slight miss would send one fuck-off deep into a forest.. Maybe people should start making more bows and arrows instead of using precious and loud bullets (now all the silencers have been left at the prison). Similarly swords seem to work well.. maybe people should try putting their knives on sticks. 7. Seriously, who wouldn't go back out and clear the prison. I don't want them to for story's sake, but there is no way they let the zombies pile up that bad and abandon it. Not when Michonne can kill 20 zombies just because they're annoying reminders. There is a back entrance and more riot gear, guns and food in there too. |
can't get worse than the season on the farm.
|
It's pretty much a carbon copy of how Lost went - started off with promise (the pilot was an excellent, sometimes shot-by-shot remake of the graphic novel) and then went astray due to shitty writing - introducing annoying characters & subplots no one cares about, ridiculous incompetent behavior as detailed above, convenient plot twists that just feel hacked into the storyline instead of evolving, etc.
The writers think they're making a complex "character-driven" series, but the fact is they're just not that talented so it winds up feeling like an amateur-league soap opera. The comic series went off the rails a bit also. Ah well. |
