What race would that be?

deltav 02-27-2014 09:28 AM

I guarantee if any of us in the civilized West took a tour of a few factory poultry, beef, pig, etc, "processing plants" where our meat comes from.... well, most would go vegetarian.

J. Falcon 02-27-2014 09:47 AM

I literally cringed.

Seen plenty of markets like that around Asia. Not a big deal anymore. It's just a part of life. Some people eat cow, some eat dog.

Pigs are the smartest domesticated animal, (smarter than dogs), but the US and the EU have no problem killing and eating them.... Why not dogs and monkeys and rats and bats.... ("lions and tigers and bears, Oh My!")?

It's more of a pity the suffering all the animals need to endure though. Unjustified to be honest.

And yes the UK and America are just as bad.

I guess it's just humans and their complete lack of care for any other species...

Shameful.

I think part of the deal is that in the West we're rich enough to have the dirty work done out of sight, out of mind. Whether it's millions of animals raised in fucked up crowded filthy misery then slaughtered and carved up by machines, or the poor fucks in China & Bangladesh slaving away on our Walmart clothes & electronics for a non-living wage - we'd be outraged if we witnessed it personally but doesn't stop us from turning a blind eye, chowing on a Big Mac in a Gap t-shirt. The 3rd World just has that shit out in the open.
