It's a personal bias. Some keep their eggs in one basket. Others have multiple mainstream as well as multiple adult sites. Wouldn't hurt. If you can leverage a team of back-end people (developers, SEO, admin, marketing, etc.) you can keep costs lower than having individual teams.
