What is a good idea worth?
 

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew what an idea is worth.

I got this idea a couple days ago for a brand new cams site, OR for a well established cam site to implement. Without saying too much, it would fuse another type of business together, so it would need experts in different areas.

The idea is definitely modern or even ahead of it's time, and nobody as far as I can tell is doing it or has thought of it.

The problem though is that I can't use this idea myself. It is far out of the scope of my abilities or knowledge of how to set it up. For me to get the right people it would probably cost me 50 times as much as someone else who knows what they are doing or have their own cam site.

I wish I could say more about the idea but I don't want to give it away just in case.

So, does anyone know if anyone has ever sold just a good idea before?

Find the person / company that has the best chance of taking the idea and actually seeing it through. Someone with the resources who is in the right vertical etc. Cut a deal (nobody is going to "buy" it) and find a way to work yourself in so you can be apart of working with them to implement it into their existing business. maybe come on as an employee, maybe a small % of the revenue increase the idea generates...

People with Ideas often think they are worth FAR, FAR more than they are. The person who spends the capital and takes the risk should realize the upside if it is successful. Id say if you got s job out of it, that would be pretty good. If you want a piece, I wouldn't expect more than 5% of what it generates unless you are willing to put in time / money. 2c

I know ideas are a dime and dozen and execution is everything, that's why I was wondering if anyone has ever sold just the idea. I know I wouldn't be able to execute it myself.

Sounds like that other guy may have thought of the same thing as I have, perhaps not though. I have the whole thing thought out, I just have no idea how to do it. lol.

Also, I would just want to sell the idea straight up. No further payments required. I'd rather see someone doing it than nobody.

if you're that sure it is a good idea why dont you hire the people you need who know how to make it happen?
