The Polish Foreign Minister believes his country?s alliance with the US is worth nothing and compared his government?s stance to giving oral sex and receiving nothing in return, a Polish magazine said, citing a leaked recording of a private conversation.

Excerpts from the alleged exchange between FM Radoslaw Sikorski and Jacek Rostowski, an MP and former finance minister, were published Sunday by Wprost, which promised a full transcript and audio files later on Monday or Tuesday. The same magazine triggered a political storm in Poland this month by releasing a recording of a conversation between the head of Poland?s central bank and the interior minister, implying a link between the two violating the bank?s independence.

According to Wprost, Sikorski is skeptical about the reliance of Poland, one of the staunchest allies of Washington in Eastern Europe, on American protection.

?The Polish-American alliance is not worth anything. It?s even damaging, because it creates a false sense of security in Poland,? Sikorski allegedly said.

?Complete bullshit,? the tape purportedly records Sikorski as saying. ?We will get a conflict with both Russians and Germans, and we?re going to think that everything is great, because we gave the Americans a blowjob. Suckers. Total suckers.?

I'm guessing the United States has more US Planes in Poland than Poland has in the United States.

In fact, it seems the US has 12 planes there plus support staff. We also have planes in Lithuania and it seems the US also patrols Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

What has Poland done for the US lately? Or ever for that matter.

I think the guy is saying that none of that is going to protect them.

Sure you are - for at least two reasons.
1) Your other allies need Poland and Ukraine as a buffer between Russia and Western Europe.
2) If you don't defend Poland from Russia or any other aggressor for that matter, it sets a bad precedent. All american allies will see they in fact cannot count on the US for support and it will start an arms race.

The whole recording scandal is all over the news here. The opposing political party (PIS) is milking it for all it's worth trying to get early elections called. The current ruling party (PO) is in all interviews ignoring everyone's concerns about what was said on the tapes and more talking about "We need to find who made these illegal tapes". There's also a bunch of talk about how it may be a Russian plot to try to destabilize the country - but I personally doubt that.

Poland was not free after the WW2. We where left by the USA and Britan in the hands of Russians that started this war together with Germans by invading Poland in the first place. We could not benefit from the Marshall Plan. For us WW2 ended not in 1945 but in 1989. We dont owe USA anything.

Nope, it's Poles and Germans who started WW2. After Munich Agreement (1938) Germans took Sudets from Czech Republic and Poles occupied Teshin SIlesia district. Only after WW2 both these parts of Czech Republic were given back.

That's really comparing a small country to a world superpower... the US has no need for polish planes to be patrolling it's borders because no one is threatening to attack the US at this time. As for russian border, I can't say - i'm not a military planner... as far as i know our border with russia IS being protected now as a bunch of military was relocated there. As for the ukrainian border with russia, I suspect that it's a matter of spreading ourselves too thin - Poland has no where near the military power of the US.

Poland fails to learn from history.

Poland attacked the Soviet Union in 1919, taking land that was ethnically mixed. Allied itself with the West to save the west from the barbarians of the East.

Their nationalism and feelings of victimhood makes them ignore their failure to fight fascism in the 30's, Refusal to talk to the Soviets about fighting the Germans together.

The Polish leaders held the Russian Army in contempt and thought they could take on the Germans in 1939 with the help of the French and Brits. Even though together they had been party to the destruction of the Spanish Republic and Czechoslovakia
Why did they think the French were prepared to save the Poles?

In fact it was the Russians who saved Europe from the Barbarians not the other way round, taking on 80% of the German Army and defeating it.

The Russians liberated Poland and put radicals in charge not the Catholic anti-semitic nationalists of pre war time.

They gave Poland the stable borders of today.

The abolished unemployment, gave equal rights to woman, expanded free higher education for all, build houses and abolished homelessness. Produced Polish books, plays, theatres, music and films which became famous though out the world.

There where negative sides too, but as they are screamed out from every mass media outlet everyday, I will just point out the positive.
