Home automation toys and gadgets
 

I just ordered Nest but am looking for more home automation gadgets. I want to be able to control whatever the gadget is via a computer/tablet/phone. I'm looking for lights, ceiling fans, door locking, anything really.

Post what you got! Pictures of your setup would be great too.

I use zwave for lighting. Can control everything from my android devices. I mounted a few tablets around the house and of course always have my phone with me. When I turn a light on or off I also have it setup so my main server speaks the command over my home speakers. "Living room chandelier on." The only expensive part is the light switches. They also have plug in modules for lamps or whatever else you want to control. They also do thermostats and door locks.

Zvirtualscenes is the program that runs on the server to control it (free) and I use an app called lightswitch on my android stuff to connect to it.

I've tried some of them and i just don't find them that useful
