Is 37 Too Old To Go To Concerts?

Seems like every concert I go to lately I'm the oldest person there. I go to bands that aren't directed towards a younger audience like Miley Cyrus or Selena Gomez. I go to indie rock shows. It seems super fucked up having people look at you like what are you doing here.

Why isn't it common for people in there 30s and above to go to shows? I'm not talking about Stevie Nicks or Aerosmith I'm talking about newer indie bands or new alt bands

Thermosphere 08-01-2014 09:41 PM

Depends on where you live I suppose. Every state / province (and city too) seems to have their own subculture that dictates what age you can be to do what in terms of clubs, bars, concerts, festivals etc.

The Porn Nerd 08-01-2014 09:48 PM

Because 37 is the new 60 Grandpa. :D

Spunky 08-01-2014 09:54 PM

Just do it until you can't

Focus 08-01-2014 10:09 PM

lool man just do whatever you want fuck the rest! Life way to short to worry about stuff like that, ill be living life to the max until that basket calling me. :2 cents:

CurrentlySober 08-01-2014 10:25 PM

Do what the fuck you wanna do. Dont worry about others.

If wanna see a band, go see them. Your supporting the band by attending, and as the saying goes... 'You could get hit by a Bus tomorrow' & 'Lifes short enough already'

fitzmulti 08-01-2014 10:25 PM

Fuck no!
Is 60+ too old to PERFOMR in concerts? {KISS, Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, McCartney...}
I don't fuckin' think so!
Rock, on man!

Seth Manson 08-01-2014 10:54 PM

Why seek other's approval? You're a big boy right?

Joshua G 08-01-2014 11:51 PM

if your asking the question, the answer is yes, for you. might wanna check out bingo now cause you'd get laid in a heartbeat at your age.

:warning

spike69 08-01-2014 11:52 PM

It might also be that people older just don't have the "disposable" income anymore. I know I don't

brassmonkey 08-01-2014 11:57 PM

yep you're still breathing do it! :GFYBand if you like heavy metal stay the fuck out of the mosh pit :1orglaugh:1orglaugh they will fucking kill u! :helpme :1orglaugh :(

AmeliaG 08-02-2014 12:01 AM

If you live in Southern California, which I'm assuming from your nick you do, that is def not too old at all.

martinsc 08-02-2014 12:10 AM

i'm 39 and I feel really old at concerts.... :Oh crap :Oh crap

isexybody 08-02-2014 12:15 AM

I think age is not a problem. Madonna is still a superstar. The key is that you have music or art that people would like. We all have our favorite.

just a punk 08-02-2014 12:30 AM

I don't feel old when I visiting concerts. I still have no idea who Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez the fuck are. I even think they have never visited my country with concerts. The bands who's concerts I visit are Iron Maiden, Metallica (the most beloved band of my wife), Slayer, Helloween (was even drinking whiskey with their soundman right during the show))), Rage, Ozzy Osborne, Kipelov etc. So I definitely don't feel old there :)

Cherry7 08-02-2014 01:16 AM

Could not get tickets for an evening concert so went in the afternoon, the parents dropping their kids off were younger than us.

Ooh, Helloween! Very cool :thumbsup I used to play them on air years ago when I was a teenage deejay.

Penny24Seven 08-02-2014 01:45 AM

Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez was that a joke?

RummyBoy 08-02-2014 02:55 AM

If you look young, you can get away with it........ otherwise, you should wear more cardigans and don a moustache and maybe get into cigar and whisky evenings.

Otherwise, you'll show you're committed and don't give a fuck about your age, show up at the concert and be having lots of fun until you overhear some young kids say: "look at that old man, what's he doing here?"

"Oi! Old man, shouldn't you be at home washing yer underwears?" :1orglaugh

I thought these guys and their music are too old for teenagers (their music is so 80s) :)

Antonio 08-02-2014 03:24 AM

if you have to ask .... 37 is too old to start looking for your balls

Klen 08-02-2014 03:34 AM

I'm older than you, and never think that way. Get over yourself, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. If someone at the concert cares more about "the old guy" than the band they came to see, then they're the asshole.

But I look 10 years younger than my actual age, so maybe that helps my attitude a little.

aka123 08-02-2014 05:35 AM

Of course not, but if you are the "grandpa" of the evening, there is nothing you can do about it.

Yeah, that's the attitude: "I am having fucking fun, RROOAAH! Fuck you all!!" :)

This might have the side effect that you start keeping everybody as a "dickhead". And having fun is actually being pissed off.

arock10 08-02-2014 06:00 AM

Just dress like a hipster and say your old age is ironic

Totally agreed......... but its just fun to jibe someone who cares about it.:1orglaugh

Actually these days, ive found lot of older people going into younger space like in nightclubs etc and no-one gives a shit.

If you put a suit on, you can go everywhere, since everybody keeps you as a "stiff" anyways, and the context is very different from "grandpa having fun in aloha shirt", when everybody just thinks you have some sort of age crisis.

Arnold [LB] 08-02-2014 06:12 AM

It's never too late to go to a good concert, if you can :)

BAM! For the win.

Fuck those morons for staring at you! Stare back and ask them if they need a 6 pack of whoop ass! Watch em run.

Rob 08-02-2014 08:02 AM

Most of us, by the time we've reached 37 have graduated to live theater, opera, and live orchestras. I can't remember the last time I went to a band concert or "event". I would rather not be around a bunch of teens and 20 somethings with booze in their veins, drugs affecting their minds, and a lot of misguided malice in their hearts.

Maqua 08-02-2014 08:04 AM

Just go, have fun and enjoy :thumbsup

CaptainHowdy 08-02-2014 08:48 AM

25 is already too old ...

2MuchMark 08-02-2014 08:53 AM

I was worried about being "too old" once, until I saw a father with his little 10 year old kid, dressed up in rocker jeans, leather etc, rocking out to Rob Zombie. I thought it was the coolest thing. Since then I could not give a fuck about age. Enjoy the show!

The Porn Nerd 08-02-2014 08:59 AM

Go see The Rolling Stones.
They're in their 70's now so you should feel right at home. :D

mixxxtura 08-02-2014 09:09 AM

I'm 55 and I used to go to concerts though these're punk and metal bands. I like to see Miley and Selena as women but their music aren't my favorite style

NaughtyRob 08-02-2014 09:35 AM

I am 48 and go all the time. Especially since my wife is 29. In fact you mentioned Selena Gomez, we went and she put on a great show. (everyone probably thought I was my wife's father but I don't give a fuck what people think)

nope, never :)

Rochard 08-02-2014 11:38 AM

Who gives a fuck? Go and have fun.

I used to feel this way when I went to the Dave Matthews Band. I got over it. Don't care what anyone else thinks.

xxxjay 08-02-2014 02:09 PM

no, not at all... I'm 42 and some of my favorite bands are still much older than me and I'll still go

ErectMedia 08-02-2014 02:23 PM

I don't go to as many shows as when I was younger but it's not due to age it's due to not having as much free time as before. I did get surrounded by a group of young hotties at a show once and one of them ended up buying me beers, guessing they didn't know my age as I can pass for maybe 7-10 years younger.

If ya like the band and got the time to go then fuck it go have fun. Youngsters fuck with ya just tell them ya got hairs on your sack older than them. :thumbsup

Far-L 08-02-2014 11:36 PM

Never too old...

RandyRandy 08-03-2014 12:09 AM

Go see Barry Manilow or Neil Diamond. Your question will become moot!
