CourtneyR 10-10-2014 07:40 AM

PiracyPitbull 10-10-2014 02:46 PM

Good movie, Affleck was good too

TheSquealer 10-10-2014 02:51 PM

Its a fucking idiotic movie with the most retarded ending ever, which was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO clearly written by a woman.

"Gee, my wife is a violent psychopath who absolutely cannot be trusted, who tried to kill me and who has murdered and framed others for violent crimes and destroyed their lives... what other choice do i have but to settle down and raise a family with her".

Wow, if you think that makes sense as a man, along with all the other completely obvious gaping holes in the story, then you need to check your estrogen levels ASAP because you are days away from growing a vagina.

It's an allegory...

TheSquealer 10-10-2014 03:06 PM

She spilled about 2 quarts of blood in the kitchen and smeared it all over the place.... she had absolutely no wounds. Of course that was never questioned.

The cop in the end doesn't believe her story about the guy who's throat she slit. The room full of FBI don't believe her... so they know she's committed at least 20 felony crimes... smash cut to local cop "nope, case closed... sorry... nothing we can do"

The trail of evidence was clearly planted, unburned diary in obvious location, which happens to set up and spell our her eventual death makes zero sense unless it was planted.

No official investigation into the murder of Neil Patrick Harris's character. She faked the scene (her fake rape video) and its pretty fucking obvious when the WHOLE property is covered by cameras that more than one camera would catch more than the 30 seconds she spent in front of the camera... especially since she faked being tied up and created those wounds, (tied to what... where?... how did she move between rooms with no video evidence?) etc etc etc etc.

This stick from the dolls is the "weapon" used against her that caused her to lose a substantial amount of blood.... but again, zero evidence of her being hit with it or a wound consistent with being hit with that uniquely shaped stick (the double rings around the top), much less any trauma that would cause that amount of blood loss.

Her story was that her husband wanted to murder her and she felt her life was in danger... she wanted to buy a gun to protect herself from him etc ... but in the end, she just wants to go home to HIM after the alleged kidnapping and repeated raping? That would never happen in a million years.

Any idiot could go on forever about all the fucked up holes in this story.

Again, only a woman could think that. "oh, yeah... nothing makes sense at all... so that means its all open to interpretation and really just a parable to teach us life lessons".

TheSquealer 10-10-2014 03:14 PM

It reminds me of another pile of shit movie clearly written by a woman... Divergent.

The whole population is divided into what? 5 incredibly retarded and thoroughly nonsensical "factions" which every single member of society belongs to. Basically security, farmers, legal etc. Of course, leaving you to watch it thinking "uhm... who takes out the trash and maintains the roads or performs any of the other countless tasks necessary for a society to function"

this thread turned funny

squealer might have a heart attack if he had to watch anything on lifetime movie network

Well, i only watched this steaming turd because my girl and i have a small joke (i hope) about her outliving me by any means possible. She began reading this book which i then took as a direct threat... she then suggested we watch the movie together, which at this point, was more of a defensive move on my part than anything. Her explanation of how the book deals with a lot of this stuff is that the book does it well. The movie was just a very poor adaptation of a well written story it seems.

Only a woman could think that a guy who is with a violent psychopath, who has murdered others, who tried to murder him, who framed another for rape and destroyed his life and so on and so on... has to be with her because "she's pregnant and its my obligation as a father to raise a child with her" and by the way... only that 1/2 gay twit Affleck, would read all of it and think "this is the movie i want to do.. this makes sense"

chaze 10-10-2014 03:36 PM

I have heard nothing but awesome things, looking forward to it.

Who's saying it isn't "just a movie"? It's just a horrible movie. It's a terribly written script. It's poorly directed. Women don't like it because its a well made film.

Women like it because the moral of the story is that if you try to murder your husband for cheating, then kill a few people along the way and then happen to get pregnant, Ben Affleck will give up blowing Matt Damon on weekends to remain forever faithful and raise that child with you and be a model husband in spite of you being a violent, murderous psychopath and thoroughly incapable of parenting a child. A story thats just win/win/win for women.

it's true. afflack's o'bannion is the only character he's played that I've liked in any movie of his I've watched. he done goofed on too many movies a long time ago for me to waste my entertainment dollars and time on a movie with him in it.

based on what i've read re: this flick in this thread i'm on track!

:)

thanks for the tip

LOL Squealer and I are a lot alike. BUT fiction movies and books don't have to be constrained by logic and realism, they are an art form, most movies have plot holes and 'that wouldn't happen in real life' moments.

I haven't seen the movie but it sounds like it is a feminist allegory. Which is fine, unless you hate the feminist dogmatic message it conveys.

Stick to movies based on true life stories, horror movies and comedies! :winkwink:

I get all that. But among all things, there has to suspension of disbelief. Obviously, I don't watch X-Men and think its all real and possible. Within the context of the movie, there is nothing that jolts you awake with a "that made no fucking sense at all" or "that character would never do that in a million years" (within the context of the film/story) moment. You'd be a bit disappointed if in the final scene of the last X-Men movie, the final showdown, they all just inexplicably piled into the Knight Rider car with Hasselhoff to run away and then the credits started rolling.

This movie starts doing that at about 2/3 of the way through and then does it with increasing frequency to the end... an end which btw, is the least satisfying ending of any movie I can recall. As others mentioned, you are waiting for closure and for it all to tie together with Afflecks character getting his moment of justice or waiting for something really clever to happen and it just inexplicably fades to black.

Imagine watching Friday the 13th and 2/3rd's of the way through, Jason, after murdering 10 people with an axe and with everyone knowing who he is and what he's done, just shows up at home. Then he offers explanations which make no sense for his whereabouts, activities and so on. Its clear he should be arrested and detained and questioned, but he isn't. The police and FBI question him as a group for all of 90 seconds, look at him like he's obviously lying about everything... but just shrug their shoulders and walk away, announcing "case closed".. but whatever, its a story and a movie... obviously this is setting up something far more interesting, you think. Then it just inexplicably cuts to Jason sitting down to dinner with his entire family and they're all laughing and drinking wine and playing scrabble or something while his ex girlfriend announces she's pregnant with Jasons baby and in spite of him being an ax murderer, she's going to try to make it work... then the credits start rolling with you sitting there thinking "huh?!".

Obviously, no story is perfectly told. Obviously stories are stories. Stories can however be well told. Stories CAN be very very very poorly told and that's all I am saying.

This story is very poorly told.

This is ONLY a good movie if your estrogen levels are higher than your testosterone levels and you are devoid of normal sense of reason.... or are an abused woman, or your husband cheats/cheated on you. In which case, your favorable response has zero to do with art of good film making and irrelevant.

Mutt 10-11-2014 05:46 PM

Hahaha ok I gotcha. It seems though that most people and movie critics like it from what i skimmed on Rotten Tomatoes.

marlboroack 10-11-2014 08:14 PM

Hadn't it seen it.

Drake 10-12-2014 04:59 PM

It's entertaining. Implausible but entertaining.

I'll definitely see it, only good reviews.

i have just finished reading the book.. at the end in the writer's thanks it says thanks for XY for helping to finish the book and she says otherwise it would have been in a 82% ready state forever, and I think it shows.. up until that point it is really really interesting.. this book gets more unexpected twists and turns than anything I have ever read.. it is not foreseeable, its unexpected, its exciting.. I loved it..
i was going to ask my by bf to come see it with me in the cinema.. but listening to you guys.. i'm not sure its the best idea anymore :D

It's just the chick version of when we kill a bunch of people then go back in time to fuck this chick before
she is terminated so she can give birth to us in the future so we can kill the other motherfuckers.
