The Fall Of McDonalds
McDonald?s Monthly Sales Slump Worst Since 2003
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-0...rth-month.html McDonald?s Profit Drops 30% as U.S. Sales Slump "McDonald?s Corp. (MCD), the world?s largest restaurant chain, said third-quarter profit fell 30 percent as U.S. sales slumped for the fourth straight quarter. Net income dropped to $1.07 billion, or $1.09 a share, from $1.52 billion, or $1.52, a year earlier, the Oak Brook, Illinois-based company said in a statement today." http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-1...les-slump.html |
Once McRib sales are factored into 4th quarter sales they will be fine. I am doing my part by eating at least 5 per week.
|
I'm on a diet - Their profits will be back to normal when I can haul my ass out of this fucking bed...
JK - Although I do need to go on a diet..... |
Have not been to mcdonalds for ages, as far as im concerned they may disappear today without me being affected in any way.
|
Good. Fast food is terrible.
|
I cannot remember the last time I've been in a McDonald's. I avoid it like the plague.
I had Wendy's last weekend, but that's rare. Can't remember the last time I've been in a McDonald's or a Burger King. |

Asia consumers shun McDonald's after food scare
http://money.cnn.com/2014/09/10/news...ds-food-scare/ |
I just remember how awesome the Big Mac's, Fish Fillet's and French fries were back in the 70's. They had the best burgers and fries around.
Nowadays, I go there once a year, just to see if they are doing anything to make good food again. I can't even get warm fries if I eat in the restaurant, much less from the drive through lane. Their food quality has fallen so far. They are the worst burger and fries around, including the awful convenience store stuff. |
Oh my God they are going to bankrupt? :pimp

Fast food chains are starting to price themselves out of their biggest market (which is folks who aren't well off).
I go there now and order a meal with 2 burgers, a fry, and a coke. It's almost $6 with tax. That same meal was less than a dollar when I was a kid. And around $3 in 2000. I went to Wendys and got the Single meal with a large chili...it's almost $8. Used to be $4 and change. I'm thinking, if you are a family on a budget with kids...and you wanted to take them to McDonalds for a "treat" once a week...you're looking at spending more money than you can afford anymore. It's just too much money for people on low incomes to afford to eat there much anymore. It's like candy and a soda at a convenience store. I go in and get a candy bar and a coke...it's over $3!!! That same combo was 20 cents when I was a kid, and I would get 5 cents back when I brought the bottle back to the store. How the fuck do kids afford to even get some candy these days? :( I can still remember gathering up a dollar in change and going to the local convenience store and buying 100 tootsie rolls. lol These days they put a dozen of them in a bag and sell it for $1.29...for fucking "penny candy". :( |
"third-quarter profit fell 30 percent"
Yup I am sure they will be filing for bankruptcy soon with their profits falling 30%. The 70% their profits did not fall is still a huge sum of money! |
Eating fast food is like smoking.
You don't realize know how atrocious it is until you quit and been off it for a while. |

The only thing we get from McD's is breakfast. $1 sausage mcmuffins ftw.

McD's charges their affiliates *rent*. McD's corporate owns all the McD's real estate. That is part of their corporate income and is a solid underpinning of McD's value worldwide. However, the franchisees are somewhat disgruntled, from an article I read, sorry can't find the link, it was months ago... McD's makes their franchisees pay for an interior remodel every few years to whatever theme corporate has decided is trending. This is generally a huge expense/loss for the franchisees because it has no impact on whether they get more or less custies. The law of diminishing returns... The only recent bend that corporate made for the franchisees was to end the promotion of the dollar menu.

i rarely eat mcdonalds but since its on the corner in one of those mcdonads/convience store/gas station combos...i have eaten there a few times and regret it every time.
|
Either cater to rich people (won't do it), reduce prices to match stagnant wages (won't do it), or support increase of minimum wages and just wait for it to turn around (won't do it).
Congrats to the winners having luck with short icqs, feonsays and one touch cockie. |
i hope they are burned to end
|
Take into account the sales they make in other countries and they will be just fine.

And ..... no, I don't hate how successful these companies are. Habitual smokers are immune to how ghastly their breath is, how their clothing smells, what their home smells like, how other smokers smell, etc. After quitting smoking, you can smell another smoker 25 feet away and it can be nauseating. When you are on a steady diet of fast food, you are likewise immune to how ghastly deficient in taste and texture it is. Meats straight from a butcher are superior to the meats in the supermarket that are superior to what passes for meats at McD's. |

Nice ad: "DNA Force".
The bullshit that is sold and is even allowed to be sold in USA is astonishing. Although as I don't value this Infowar very higly, I think it suits well for their target audience. |

BK is so much better than cardboard tasting mcd's. Now i want a fucking whopper. |

Only time will sort this out and in the mean time, Mc Donalds and the rest can go to hell and I will never miss them. Eat local, meal and a drink will cost 8$ to $10 with tip, but the quality is worth not saving a buck or two eating fast food bullshit. Your body will thank you. |

No big loss, every time I eat that shit I need to run to the bathroom 2 hours later.

Kroger supermarket ... 1 pound of hamburger $3.00, a pack of 8 buns $1.00. Why would someone with money problems eat out?
|
Actual food prices are way the fuck up lately

We ate at home every night. But once every couple of weeks or so we might all get to go to McDonalds (as a family). My parents and 3 of us kids. It was an inexpensive and kinda fun thing to do in a small town when you are a kid. :) Not so sure that it's so easy to do these days for those kinds of people because it's not a cheap night out anymore. So it gets done less (if at all) in that situation. These days...I go to Inn & Out. Not only do they taste better. But it's a lot cheaper to go there too. And if you go to Arbys? You might as well NOT go there and just go ahead and hit up a regular restaurant. It'll cost you about the same and the food will be better. Arbys is so damn expensive it's not even funny. And to think, a few years ago they were super cheap. They'd even run those promotions where you could get 5 roast beef sandwiches for $5. I used to grab a sack of 5 of them and bring them to the office for everybody. |

I also don't eat bacon. I mean, everyone loves bacon, and I have a "I heart bacon" sticker on my truck.... But I rarely eat bacon. I've lost thirty pounds since Phoenix Forum. I'm doing good. I do eat pizza though. I love pizza. |

1. prices climbing many see it is just not worth it. 2. customer service is shittier than the food. 3. the Asian scare. - How about some green, rotten chicken with those McNuggets? :winkwink: #3 they really fucked up in Asia. McD's apologized, promised it won't happen again and tried to move on. Fail. Another chain, Saizeriya that specializes in cheap Italian snacks and meals was accused of having Chinese ingredients in their snacks claiming to be 100% Japanese ingredients. Saizeriya pulled the Chinese contents, apologized and gave away 500 yen coupons to anyone who came in, no receipt needed and said "I ate here and want my coupon." At Saizeriya, since they serve beer and wine, 500 yen can get you wasted or almost fed. Saizeriya is rocking again and McD's standing there with their dick in their hands. Pizza Hut, KFC and BK are in the same boat. Greed and stupidity have gotten them there. Now McD's in Asia is realizing their fail and trying to give away 100 yen coupons and nobody gives a shit. The horse left the gate and McD's is FUCT. Good for them, their food is shyte. Putting the customer ahead of your greed and your convenience is a tune we can all dance to. |

Don't fret. The CEO and others will still be getting a pay raise and bonus!
|
Good for humanity.
I don't understand how poor folk can keep eating there - it's no longer cheaper than anything. Your local greasey spoon is cheaper. Plus, you have to check how "healthy" McD's is country-per-country, because of norms and regulations... it's much healthier in Europe than in the US, for example. More real food, actually... :D |
For those of you that dont understand the poor people eating at McDonald's, the answer is simple.
The grocery store doesnt have a drive-thru window. Most of the poor people eating fast food arent doing it because they are poor, they are doing it because they are lazy. They are probably poor for the same reason. |
