I Didn't Like The Ending Of The Hobbit

It felt rushed and there were some loose ends left untied.

CS said it was good so I'm thinking frodo swallowed the ring then made a poo into mount doom.

Weak ending.

Going to see it soon.

A lot of what you see in the Hobbit movies A) never happened B) is hugely exaggerated from the original story -and- C) was sourced from other Tolkien writings.

It originally is a children's story about a bunch of dwarves, a hobbit and a wizard who went to mountain to reclaim gold and treasure from a dragon. Gandalf disappears several times to tend to other business while they get captured by trolls, giant spiders, goblins and the wood elves. They end up pissing off the dragon. Then there is a huge battle at the end. And somewhere in all of that, Bilbo stumbles onto a magic ring that Gollum used while hunting for food.

That was it.

Peter Jackson's movie ending should set the stage for his next trilogy.

iSpyCams 12-18-2014 09:15 AM

Tolkien's books are so long and detailed it would take about 12 epic movies to cram it all in, and probably the same is true for most books. So any movie is a matter of condensing a longer story. It's never gonna be as complete as the book.

It's just that the ending was....unsatisfying. I don't want to go into details (spoilers for those who haven't seen it yet) but there shouldn't have been questions left unanswered, like what happened to the dwarves, elves, the treasure, etc?

Typical Hollywood. :D

PS - Where the fuck was Gollum? Like, ever hear of FORESHADOWING Mr. Jackson?

MaDalton 12-18-2014 11:31 AM

i'll wait for the extended version on DVD before i give my final verdict - i have them for all other 5 movies too and they make so much more sense

That's what I was thinking, too. Reserve final judgment until then. The ending felt rushed, as if Jackson was under pressure to keep the film under 3 hours.

Can't wait until anal hobbit makes a parody.

For those of you abroad who saw the international release, did you stay to the end of the credits? The Chronicles of Gandalf looks epic. Probably going to be the best ones yet.
