Vegas hotel prices?

I was last in Vegas about a decade ago. Part of my stay was spent at the Sahara and from memory it was about 20 or 25 dollars a night. I noticed it's now called SLS and for a stay in January, I've been quoted $200 a night. Prices in general for Vegas seem to have shot through the roof. How come?

Try Vegas.com

If you go to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas and sign up for their special offers (it's at the bottom) they will send you cheap room deals all year long.

Cheers I'll take a look. Quite a surprise looking at the hotel prices today. I always saw it as a budget destination. Not anymore it seems.

If you are looking at January prices, they are higher because of all the big conventions that are here. AVN, Internext, Affiliate Summit, CES, the SHOT show, etc. I probably left out some. January is the start of "convention season" here and hotel rates are higher than any other time of year.

You can still stay for $25/night if you stay in a shithole. Comparing the Sahara to a new property is pretty laughable.

Arnox 12-31-2014 09:04 PM

Supply and demand.

They can charge high prices because there's a demand.

It's simple market economics, brah.

It's not the Sahara anymore. It's been bought out, renovated, and is all new.

The Porn Nerd 12-31-2014 09:15 PM

$200 a night is insane. No money left to gamble or go see shows.

I know. I'm saying there are still $25 hotels he can stay at that will be just like the Sahara was ten years ago.

It depends on the days of the week...and what, if any, big conventions are in town.
PLENTY of hotels are very affordable, given the right days and such...but I would suggest looking thru hotels.com or expedia.com

But, hotels are not "always" 8 X what they were....

I've always stayed at Elara (Hilton) in the center of strip behind Miracle Mile shops next to Planet Hollywood. But I will be staying in Vegas early March and prices everywhere are again much higher so have checked around and can't find anything less than around 100GBP for this hotel which I love staying at which is insane even though it's a great hotel with high ratings.

I'm gonna choose the hotel next to it which is Marriott Grand Chateau for nearly half that price so still reasonably central... opposite Aria/Cosmopolitan etc - both have excellent customer ratings, among the highest. If I am on the strip I want luxury at affordable prices and don't want to pay resort fees either (up to $30/night). Grand Chateau has free internet & valet too.

I can then choose my fave casinos to gamble in later if I so wish :)

You sound English... try hotels.com Bookings.com Trivago.co.uk and the usual ones like expedia - prices don't vary that much. I get 10th night stay free with Bookings.com

Vegas hotel prices definitely up from last year

mixing 01-02-2015 01:21 AM

Prices have definitely gone up. Did you pay that on a weekend or weekday back then?

nvaonline 01-02-2015 03:31 AM

i booked a few nights in hooters casino & hotel! (50 dollar a night) and got a free 50 dollar foodvoucher for their restaurant, not bad this winter promotion (AND NEAR THE STRIP AND NOT FAR FROM HARDROCK)

hotelscombined [dot] com - to aggregate prices

fitzmulti 01-02-2015 11:43 AM

I JUST now got this email from the Hard Rock on deals and such...
It'll show you how they, and of course other hotels, base things around demand & what's going on at that time here in Las Vegas. {As I previously mentioned}.

A $39 room...is $599 (yes 599) during AVN...

Sign up for the emails and text messages from the MGM and the New York New York hotel, they send a lot of deals via those contact methods.

10 years ago. Really. I can't imagine that prices center strip have gone up at all in the last decade. Inconceivable.

This board used to be full of ballers...now, not so much.

Atticus 01-02-2015 12:51 PM

Jan is convention season as others have pointed out. Huge difference in price from December to January. That being said, still good deals to be found.

Can also use the app Hotels Tonight. Wife and I have scored newer strip hotels on a Fri/Sat night for under $50 if we want to get away from the kids for an evening. Plus if you're new to the site they give you $25 to try it out.

I went to vegas last year for a wedding I forgot the name of the place but it was an extended stay place and I stayed for a week for 200$. Alot of poker players and hookers stay at those kind of places.

Vegas Stay

Try Arizona Charlies. It's a sawdust joint slightly out of town. Has a small hotel. Friend deals blackjack there.

cool1g 01-03-2015 06:10 PM

many times you can get better rates at places like expedia than the hard rock's own 'special offers'.

AllAdultWebsites 01-04-2015 07:53 AM

Vegas is one of the most expensive places in the World for this.
