Tech question: Suspuciously high bandwidth
Hi guys,
I have my own VPS and usually I have around 4-8GB of bandwidth per day. But then there are days when it skyrockets like crazy to like 40GB or even more per day. I have stable traffic with no extraordinaries. Last time this happened someone was using my VPS to send spam so we blocked those IP addresses. But now I just can't figure out what's going on and hosting support doesn't help me at all. I am no tech guy so I don't know for what should I look. Could you give me some advice? Thanks! |
Check logs. Anything unusual in access legs? Hotlinking? Search engine spiders? Assuming Linux, does "ps aux" show any unusual processes or an unusual number of processes?

I think I checked mail logs and it seems fine. I also find some access logs but there is so much data... I don't know how to check hotlinking. I don't work with Linux at all. I think that "ps aux" shows ordinary processes, there's like 20 times "/www/vapache/<my_vps_name>/bin/httpd -f /www/vapache/janzelinka/conf/httpd.conf"
