If you do not have Skype...
Find another line of work. Seriously.
Skype does not require a camera or video chat. It is FREE software that lets you communicate via text messages just like ICQ but it also can allow voice calls like a telephone and most importantly it lets you share your screen so someone can show you what they are looking at online while you discuss it. Anyone in 2015 who doesn't have Skype and wont download Skype is causing 'meetings' to take 10x the necessary amount of time... and that wasted time is costing you money because the world will charge you more for making them use antiquated technology to communicate. If you are relying on ICQ you may as well switch back to using a fucking fax machine. I am posting this so I can link to it and show it to people on ICQ rather than writing it out each time. /rant :2 cents: |
I use both every day. what is slowing anyone down?
|
All fine here
|
CS cunt afford Skype :thumbsup
|
See sig Oh and no camera or mic so stop asking! fucking pervs :banana |
No camera makes perfect sense. Nobody wants to see you fapping during a business call.
Saying "I don't have Skype, you can't share your screen just describe it all like I'm Stevie Wonder, you also have to email me that attachment instead of throwing it in the IM window, and while you are at it go find a phone if you want to do a voice call" is nonsense.... |

My MO is Skype for initial connection, schedule quick voice call for details, then confirm details via skype or email. Easy enough . . . you'd think :1orglaugh |

I only use ICQ for adult. Skype is my mainstream ID, do not want to mix up and having 2 skype IDs running simultaneously requires hacking skills.. Seriously, couldn't they make it easier?
|
ICQ for porn, Skype for mainstream/friends/family.
Deal with it. |

When I travel to shows I exclusively use Skype and if an actual meeting is needed then I use Skype. But for everyday hit me ups I use ICQ. :) |

Skype is awesome - I use it constantly, and even use it to carry on business when I'm on the road or at my favourite pub.

The same thing was being said about ICQ 10 years ago :pimp
I agree, Skype is very good. |
Im amazed how some people still dont use skype, i guess theyre trying to conduct business, low profile
|
how about using encrypted "clones" of skype like from this article ?
Ten Skype alternatives with a hugely secure P2P platform: bitmessage and Off the Record chat ? are we allow to use them, Sir, or we have to bend over to PRISM and others ? :1orglaugh:1orglaugh |
skype is winner, i dont need anything else
|
add me on skype :) WendyEtology

What would I do with all my 6 digit ICQ numbers then? :1orglaugh
Honestly only talk to a handful of people in adult these days through ICQ or direct text message to their phone. Years ago my shit was blowing up like mad got tired of it and switched numbers and rarely hand it out now. :2 cents: |
|
I switched to skype for my business phone and sometimes the line is terrible.
|
could never find the blocking feature on icq so had to delete it and resort to Skype :upsidedow

I run 2 copies of skype all day... one for low level contacts and one for higher level contacts. No reason you can't run a 'friends/family account' and a 'business account' on your computer simultaneously.
|
Shit,I didn't know you didn't need a camera.I thought you did.I still use the ICQ and have for years

Love Skype for phone calls, but for texting - especially in a business context - Whatsapp for the win. 700 million users and 30 billion texts a day. . . And counting.
WhatsApp growth continues with 700m users sending 30bn daily messages | Technology | The Guardian |
i don't care who need to talk just send me e-mail :2 cents:
|
Baddog told me he doesn't have skype. I found that seriously odd.
|
I still prefer email. I answer when it's a good time for me, and the other party can do the same. That said, I have Skype and ICQ to accommodate those that think differently than I.
|
Skype > ICQ

Installing software to two separate directories is hardly complicated for anyone that would need multiple copies. |

And this is how I would imagine most of the business calls stemming from gfy would look: http://www.quickmeme.com/img/41/41d1...7febfbf11c.jpg |
if running 2 skype's is hard for you then you have problems.
i run 3 all the time and took me 5 min's to figure out how to do it :2 cents::2 cents::2 cents: Quote:

Stop talking all this voodoo and just send me a handwritten letter, like A-Rod. Thanx.

I've had ICQ since 2002, I haven't opened it in at least 3 months, they've done their time. Everyone uses Skype now, or at least them that want to be found.
|
I still use both, Skype and ICQ.
|
absolutly right :-)

No, instead you just use drop down menus and set it up like a consumer, not a hacker running all those DOS style command line things. |
