I don't care what the brand name is. If it's pure sativa I'm smoking it.

The middle man can call it whatever he wants. Most of the time he doesn't seem to know the difference between lemon kush and lemon haze.
Sativa usually makes me energetic while indica tends to make me lazy. I don't mind a good hybrid though. |
who all is stoned right this fucking second!?????
i'm seein all tweet tweet over here |
First off...
All of it is hybrid at this point. The shop can say whatever, the grower can claim whatever, but the straight truth of it is that finding a true 100% sativa, indica, or ruderalis is just about this side of impossible in this day and age. Even claiming something is dominant sativa/indica is sort of mute because few test the genetics and even if they did the variance within just a generation or two is so great as to render it mute. That being said... Quality is still quality and two growers growing the same plant from the same cuttings will create two separate results... So how do you know what is best? Try Homegrown! :thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup:winkwink: http://www.homegrownoils.com/uploads...17229_orig.jpg |
i'm not so sure it's all hybrid, Far-L. i can certainly tell and feel the difference between top-shelf sativas and indicas. i also only buy lab-tested weed from dispensaries i've learned to trust.
|
Probably an optimistic estimate for any commercial plant is 90% sativa dominant. From what I understand a pure sativa plant would require more attention and time than a hybrid.

Also, the freshness and the curing method will each play a significant role in what is going on with the THc and CBDs etc., so you can experience an indica that is peppy and or a sativa that is drowsy just based on that. Also, I am deeply aware of issues with testing facilities in both CA and WA. There is only one lab that we have found to produce consistent results with triple blind testing of same exact samples. The others have HUGE variance and so we are very skeptical of their lab procedures etc. So when you say you trust the dispensary - what lab are they trusting? The lab they send samples to or the lab that their producers publish results from? I have been in line at labs and heard BHO producers refuse to do solvent screenings based on the additional cost which just freaked me right the fuck out. O-pen just got nailed for not disclosing the high rate of solvents in their product even though they claimed it was pure co2 derived; they were also using entane/butane/etc to increase yield and potency but not letting patients/consumers know. So, not trying to be a downer contrarian but these are some realities to consider. |

bho's are another matter and i no longer indulge in them. they are not legal here in CA |
I think he's saying just smoke it, yo. The effect comes as much from how it was cared for as genetics.

that's what i do. i don't get into a big deal about it. I've smoked for decades and decades. the lab-tested shit i buy hits hard based on my experience so i trust the dispensary i buy it from and just smoke it. all their top-shelf/tested weed is the same price, and that's what i get. their tested weed is consistent, and that makes buying decisions easier for me. at $350+/0z, i don't need to waste money testing in my own lab. |

For the record, I am a huge sativa fan too and I remember what it was like way back when you could get a pure sativa still. Growers don't grow pure sativas simply because the cycle is too long to be profitable and even the places where growing them outdoors is possible cultivational crosses have been introduced to make them yield more, grow faster, etc. :2 cents: |

but yeah, no, no buzz kill. we're on the same page, i certainly don't pony up to buy weed just because it's lab-tested, which is how i must have come across. and there are no weights and measures legals that require those tests to maintain certain standards so i'm with ya. i guess what i meant was based on buying weed that is lab-test from a dispensary i frequent, i've come to trust their advice on strains to get if my favorites are out. so since indicas are easier to grow, do they tend to be more pure than sativas, since they are more difficult to grow? |

The weed here in the States is FAR different than the weed I smoked throughout Europe. In the Czech Republic I found what I considered to be "pure" sativa simply because the leaves were long and thin, the entire bud was long and thin, and the effect was similar to a cocaine buzz. LOL Tons of energy, rapid thinking, non-stop talking, etc. I kind of didn't like it because it reminded me of my old coke days (daze?). LOL
I find hydro and indoor plants pack the most punch and most of the stuff I smoked in Europe tasted/felt like outdoor grows. Who knows? Here in the States I basically ignore 'sativa'/'indica' and just go with this: The lighter the color green - the closer to a light white/lime color - the stronger it kicks my ass. The darker green/brown it is the less I like it. And don't even get me started on the Purples.... Biggest issue? When I DO find a strain I adore - like Blue Dream - each crop is slightly different so it's hard to find that 'perfect' consistent product. Comes with the territory of being a plant, I suppose. Light up!! |

Check out a few sites like Leafly etc. and you will find there is no consistency even in their determinations of what's what. Pineapple is a hybrid on some, a sativa on others, etc. |

The other thing about color is it has a lot to do with the cure. I miss the days of true Acapulco Gold - cured similar to cigar tobacco leaf. Here is a good link to understanding "purple" colored weed |
I just smoke it and enjoy the high. I don't put it on trial.

Puff puff pass my friends...
