Any hunters here?

Ive hunted: wild pigs,deer,badgers

thinking about tagging a bear

aka123 03-30-2015 11:16 AM

Yes. I hunt mainly birds and smallish predators.

iSpyCams 03-30-2015 11:16 AM

I wanna do some pigs this year. I went hunting for Turkey last year, didn't get any, saw some deer, 2 days before deer season. Felt stupid wandering around the woods with a shotgun, but, at least I could say I went. Gonna do hogs this year. Should be fun. Gotta remember to get it done before it gets too hot.

Just hang out at Jenny Craig if you want to bag a few pigs!

don't forget to wear an orange vest...

Mobius Matt 03-30-2015 11:42 AM

Hunted white-tail all the time back in Missouri. Picked up a 7mm mag to do some long distance hunting...first morning out had to test its range at a difficult shot of 10ft.

My greenish helmet isn't enough?

Actually I don't even have orange vest as I don't hunt anything that would legally require one. Mainly waterfowling and upland bird hunting with fetching dog.

I have my 2015 black bear permit for WI this year, first time doing it. Took me 12 years to get the tag. Going to be doing a bait pile and hunt from a tree stand.

Barry-xlovecam 03-31-2015 06:32 AM

If you are hunting in bear country carry a large caliper sidearm.

I second this tip. You might need to check the bear's body fat percentage.

Doesn't this apply to tree hugging too? You never know what is behind the tree.

Though we don't get sidearms for that purpose and getting high caliber sidearm is anyways very hard these days, if not impossible. But the berrie pickers and tree huggers get along just fine without, so I guess that I, brave hunter will too, especially as I alredy have some gun when hunting.

once i shot a black guy when i worked in the NY police
He ran away, but not as fast as my bullets ;)

Rochard 03-31-2015 02:41 PM

I used to hunt. Until I joined the military. It's just not fun unless they can shoot back at you.

Unless you hunt using a bow and arrow. At least give them a fighting chance.

beerptrol 03-31-2015 02:47 PM

I was flipping through the channels one day and came across a show where some dude was hunting black bear! He set up a bait station using donuts to lure them in as he sat back a distance and waited with a scoped rifle!

First thought was where's the sport in hunting like that
second thought was I hope no cops get shot!

put down the moonshine jugg you inbred piece of shit!

Vendzilla 03-31-2015 03:01 PM

Hunting pig is fun because they will charge you and if they get at you, they will do a lot of damage. Deer are kinda boring, the meat will taste like whatever they eat, so keep that in mind. Rattle Snake hunting is really fun! LOL

Hunt bear and get a lot of pork!

Haven't hunted in some time, not really into it anymore. If was , it would be for Bison

This is how it goes regarding predators: predator that gets killed or seriously wounded by prey = idiot. The idea is to get prey, not get killed. That is why predators go after the weakest ones.

Same goes with war; the idea is not that the others have even chance to shoot back. It much better to shoot unarmed enemies, preferably while they sleep, etc. I don't know what they teach you in US military, but we were teached to kill; not have some jolly sport shooting at the expense of our lives.

jscott 04-01-2015 12:36 AM

Really loser'ville thread here.

Lowlife people getting a sense of power with killing things. The bigger more vicious the animal, the more power you feel.

Hunters using guns are too weak, and too non-skillful to be able to use b&a, didn't you know that?
This is what makes it fun for them, they are weak and useless, yet they can "bag themselves" an elk/bear/whatever :disgust

seeandsee 04-01-2015 01:53 AM

I am not hunter, it's cruelty to animals

I will repeat one thing from my previous message; the idea is to get prey. That is why the whole bow and arrow were invented in the first place. Or the spear, or spear-thrower ("high tech"). Good luck trying to hunt with your bare hands.

Guns in hunting are just continuum for that; about from the year 1500 onwards.

In the old good "sporty" days, game were driven do death down to cliffs, to trap holes, traps were used extensively, birds were netted (flying), flighless birds were netted during molt, etc.

This whole sport hunting concept is not more than 100 years old, excluding kings and faraos.
