Nice PR play by PornHub in Vice

Pornhub was the only porn site that returned a request for comment. They issued me a statement calling Thomas?s conclusions ?not only completely false, but also dangerously misleading.? In their lengthy, compelling rebuttal, Pornhub pointed out the vast amount of server space they would need to store users? viewing histories?they get 300 million requests a day, and they estimate that storing all of that would require 3,600 terabytes of space. Not to mention that sifting through all of it would be nearly impossible and maddeningly time-consuming. ?Pornhub?s raw server logs contain only the IP and the user agent for a very limited time, never a browser footprint,? a Pornhub spokesperson wrote me in an email.
What MindGeek failed to mention is they also own the company that serves ads on all of their sites. That entity collects a ton of information on users.

There are 3 people that work in the porn industry that are competent businessmen. None of them work for Mindgeek so whatever personal data they collect will more or less be a useless cluster fuck such as things almost always are in this biz.

That aside though make no mistake about it porn is NOT manwins main business....moving massive amounts of money around IS.

IS.

that's one of their most secret projects. I heard they have biometric scanners to even get to the special floor that deals with those kind of things. last I heard, that secret project was called "google analytics"

I hope that is not your shitty content in your avatar. If it is, you have no room to talk about competence. Whoever took that shitty picture should be shot.

It's nothing new.

But the silence from the government is really creepy.

yea I agree it's a shitty avatar but it's already been stolen.

For the most part if anyone is actually producing something of quality then they would be a fucking idiot to put it on the Internet. Putting a well made quality videos and photos on the Internet is like taking a homeless guy out to a 5 star restaurant for lunch.... He's never going to appreciate it and he'll wish he had a cheap pizza instead.

There was a time when to produce photos and videos we hired makeup artists, lighting experts, etc.

Today all that's required to produce porn is to:
  • Turn cell phone camera on
  • Place cell phone on a table to record the sex
  • Tell the talent to start fucking
  • leave the room and go to the park for an hour
  • When you return upload video to a tube site and pray you earn a few pennies

You are absolutely correct. Once it goes digital, making a living from art or porn is over.

I'm not sure if it's over but it's damn well mother fucking hard. For me it's a question of how much work versus how much do I get back for that work. I've gone back to events photography but as for "Fuck Films" all I'm really doing these days is specialized photography and "not for publication" swinger videos.

But otherwise for the most part digital is just a fucking joke. Every ass clown with a digital camera and his sister are taking pictures and bullshitting about how much money they're making.

Switch to View-Master.

Nothing can be done really. It is all about the few whales out there now that pay for cams and screw sites. Once the whales are gone, It will be interesting to see how things go.

Don't laugh I had a call for that last year...

It's still quite popular and there's a lot of resources for stereo cameras online. : View-Master Camera

As I said 99% of the porn I shoot these days is specialized and /or "not for publication". Pay me my day rate and I'll film whatever someone wants.

I agree with you.
For me over means trying to match friends who were making 30k a month, late 90's, early 2k by posting pix to usenet. lol. Now its mostly scammers and thieves making such volume.

You're damn right its hard.

Swinger videos are fun. I've done those. I bet that would make a great indie film.

There used to be 2 ways to get a bad name in the porn biz. Your checks are no good or if you're male talent and can't get wood. But the Internet came along and redefined the words scam, thief and gossip. And poor quality fucking is now the norm.

What I'm selling mostly these days a lot like sports or Hollywood memorabilia. Some private collectors want to see certain things or certain people and they want it on a certain format. It's a lot less bullshit and I get to work with some really cool equipment.

As for swinger videos,

All sex for me has gotten to the stage of being clinical and autopilot. A woman can be a super model and fucking her is about as interesting to me as cleaning my house or walking my dog. So when I screw someone at a swinger's party it's pretty much just an obligation for the sake politeness and to be called again in the future for work... I'm not getting anything out of it.

Also swingers can be pretty weird too. They tend to be at least in their mid 40s and obsessed with keeping their participation in the "lifestyle" a secret. So they're not really looking to get to know me as a person because I've been the "dirty pornographer." Also a lot of these "Swinger Documentaries" are just using paid actors quite often porn talent maybe a club owner as well. But that's cool.. it's about the money to me.
