N.J. Gov. Christie spent $82,000 on concessions at Jets, Giants games:

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh You can't make this shit up.

"A New Jersey watchdog report indicates that Gov. Chris Christie spent more than $82,000 in state funds on concessions at Jets and Giants games during the 2010 and 2011 seasons."

"The figures came to light as part of an overall investigation by New Jersey Watchdog into the governor's use of an expense account. Christie is paid $175,000 per year, and also has access to a $95,000 annual expense account. Over the course of his five years in office, Christie has spent $360,000 from the account, with more than 80 percent of that, $300,000, dedicated to food and drink."

well - he looks like he spent $300k on food, i have no doubt about that

crockett 05-11-2015 01:53 PM

I'm sure he didn do nuffuns wrong and it was a staffer whom will take the fall.

Rochard 05-11-2015 02:25 PM

Clearly the man likes his food!

TisMe 05-11-2015 02:29 PM

He must be on a diet.

Bladewire 05-11-2015 02:32 PM

I'm sure it will be fount out that one of his assistants did it all and they will be the one to go down in flames not Christie of course.

JFK 05-11-2015 02:52 PM

Whats the big deal here ? " also has access to a $95,000 annual expense account." That's 190K for 2 years he spends 41 k per year an people are up in arms ?

"Over the course of his five years in office, Christie has spent $360,000 from the account, with more than 80 percent of that, $300,000, dedicated to food and drink." His total allowance for the 5 yrs is 475K

He has a stature to maintain, no one else ever, entertained potential clients ? The guy's a veritable saint, when it comes to spending :2 cents:

The prices are jacked so far up...I'm surprised he didn't spend more. Especially if he's paying for his staff as well.

The price of one hot dog at a Jets game is $6
A beer is $8.75
A water is $4.25

So if each person had 2 dogs, 2 beers and a water that would be $33.75 per person PLUS the exorbitant tax they have there.

Say you got 10 people...that's $337.50 PLUS the high tax rate there.

So yeah...through 2 seasons of both football and the much longer season of baseball...I could see that happening.

Of course it's much funnier to make fat jokes about Christie. And I'm sure that whatever "liberal" Democrat got this story circulating doesn't mean to make fun of fat people because he or she is sooooo compassionate and caring. lol

I read it as 80% of his allowance was spent on food and drinkn totalling $300,000. That why he is investigated. we all know he's shady anyway so it really doesn't matter right? Come on

You are forgetting the fact that this is on the "TAX PAYERS" dime. Just because he likes football doesn't mean the tax payers should be flipping the bill. Added to this he tried to cover it up.

When they started vetting him for his run for president in 2010 they went back and repaid the money out of "other" money to try and head off any scandal.. IE he knew it was wrong so he tried to cover it up as if it didn't happen, with out reporting it.. if not for his run for president in the last election he would have kept on doing it.

epitome 05-11-2015 05:33 PM

Funny how the people who would bash Obama for doing something like that are rushing to Christie's aid.

Michelle can't take a flight (she has to fly on certain planes) but dude can spend as much on food.

oh come on! the only thing he's guilty of here is being a fat fuck who scarfs down a shit ton of food at sporting events.

1215 05-11-2015 05:38 PM

he's a douche.

kane 05-11-2015 05:57 PM

I don't see the big deal. He is given the money as part of his job and he is spending it. I imagine many others before him and others in his same position do the same thing.

Now if we found out he was using the money on hookers or cocaine or something illegal, then it would be a story.

the only deal here is he is a fat fuck who indulges in copious amounts of stadium foods.

So you are saying that there was no reason for him to try and cover up this useage of tax payer funds by using other tax payer funds to pay it back..

If nothing was wrong, then why did he try to hide it?

That is what makes the story funny and headline worthy. A fat guy who spends a ton on beer and hot dogs at a stadium. If this was some skinny, fit guy doing the same thing nobody would be saying a word.

:1orglaugh When you researched the concession prices at MetLife stadium in your rush to defend a Republican, you might of wanted to double check what sports they actually play in said stadium. Jets and Giants play in the NFL. Football only. The 'much longer season of baseball' is played in The Bronx and Queens.

So yeah, 32 home games. Unless he's going hog wild in the pre-season.

It sounds like he took a bunch of friends to see the games and paid for all of their food and drinks with his expense account. The article linked says the expense account can be used as, "an allowance of funds not otherwise appropriated and used for official receptions on behalf of the state, the operation of an official residence, for other expenses." This would certainly qualify as other.

So unless he actually broke some rules by buying friends or whoever food and drinks at games it sounds like the republicans are paying the money back in order to keep this from being an issue if Christie decides to run for president.

bronco67 05-11-2015 07:37 PM

Not too hard to do when a hot dog costs $10,000.

Relentless 05-11-2015 07:48 PM

At least he spent the money in NJ spurring the local economy. Would be worse if he spent it in Dallas while blowing Jerry Jones during playoff games last year.

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

that would be fucking over the top if he was expensing those cowboys games.

Robbie 05-11-2015 08:28 PM

crockett is 100% right on this.

NO fucking bureaucrats should be spending taxpayer money for this kind of shit. None of them should have limousines, private jets, and "expense accounts".

They are supposed to be public SERVANTS. Instead they live like Kings and Queens while the rest of us bust our ass to survive.

Christie should be impeached as governor and put in jail. I'm not kidding. That's the way it SHOULD be.

But when you have over 200 years of bureaucrats giving themselves raises and expense accounts and free medical and limousines and jets and helicopters...this is the kind of shit we end up with.

Any public servant who takes advantage of all this excess should be voted out.
But then again...if I had my way EVERY politician would be "one and done" (one term only).

In that article it says that the Governor is given a box to the stadium for all Jet and Giant games as well as all other functions. I wonder how much the tax payers are putting out for his luxury box?

If it's one penny, it's too much.

We in the modern world forget what our country was supposed to be. These guys aren't supposed to be spending money (that isn't theirs) like drunken sailors and running huge deficits while living like Gods.

They are supposed to keep their real jobs at home to return to when their "service" to the people is over. Instead they've turned politics into their lifetime/career jobs and making themselves millionaires.

This ain't what Jefferson, Washington, and Franklin had in mind at all.

Robbie 05-12-2015 12:06 AM

Hell, while I'm ranting...Jefferson died deep in debt. The 2 terms as President he served actually contributed to him falling deeper into debt because he was unable to attend to his business as he should have.

Can you even faintly imagine a President in modern times being poor and in debt? LOL!
They get set up so fucking sweet. And they all end up millionaires (if they weren't already).

Meanwhile, we have people struggling to make a living. Poor people and minorities voting for these assclowns thinking that they will "help" them.

Nope. Every President that I can think of in the last 100 years rode off into the sunset living a lifestyle that puts them in the top 1% and beyond the wildest dreams of the other 99%. (including the current "hope and change" President)

What a scam. :(

I had read that Clinton was deeply in debt when he left the white house because he hand't made a ton of money before or during his time in and he spent so much on lawyers it drained him dry. Within 12 months of leaving the white house he had earned about $40 million dollars. Within a few months of leaving the white house he and Hillary bought a multi-million dollar home in New York.

Politics is the only job where people will give you millions in order to help you get the job, then when you are done with it they give you millions more to come work for them using your influence on others. It is flat out insane and no wonder our system is broken.

Why aren't you equally outraged at the expenses related to Michelle Obama's luxury box?

My sources say that there is a dedicated staff devoted to trimming, waxing, and bedazzling. Is that a good use of tax payer money?

There was a bill floated in Congress not long ago which would stop any member of Congress from being able to get hired as a lobbyist or for govt contractors for something like 3 years after their last term ended. It obviously didn't pass.. Anyway it's pretty obvious the entire system is corrupt when these guys spend millions to get a job that pays a few hundred thousand.
