After, That fish died, pushed it offshore into the stream and let it float down. A lot lot of people so called "sport" fisherman, practice catch and release, they torture the fish, then release it. Some of them cant take the strain associated with other peoples fun and so they die:2 cents:

So, those are not the kind of salmon those spawn and die? That would be awkward. :)

We don't by the way have that kind of salmon around here. They all live happily ever after +- regular casualties.

its spring so its trout and they dont die, unless very old. Salmon is in the fall ! :thumbsup

deltav 05-12-2015 03:34 PM

Yah, not a great idea to feed dogs raw trout - they have parasites in them and can make the dog sick. Which is also why you gotta cook trout pretty well yourself.

Where are you at JFK? I need to go fishing, didn't get a license last year so I'm overdue.

As a big time fisherman I eat everything I am going to catch as long as it is legal.

If I can't eat what I catch (due to water safely or laws) I don't fish there.

Fishing for "sport" is torture to the animals.

I had people come and say we do catch and release, WTF, why bother if you're not going to eat it ? :2 cents:

Be careful. I posted about how ridiculous I though "catch and release" was, that I got blasted for it. Sure I get blasted for everything, but still.

ps. Poor Fish!

I find it ridiculous you have a penchant for going against-the-grain in nearly every thread...about any topic.

Not sure why. But trolling is high on my suspect list.

We have mink, otter , beaver, deer, have seen wild turkeys on a few occasions. Also plenty of wild ducks, the little ones should be born any time now. Love to see them floating down stream behind momma, then paddling furiously to get back upstream:1orglaugh

About this catch and release. I have never understood how killing is better. If you are very concerned about the animals, leave them alone altogether. I hunt and fish and usually the animals do all they can to avoid being killed. Even half of a worm tries to wriggle away.

What I do, is anyways for my own benefit, not the animals. I mean when hunting and fishing.

How killing has become as a humane thing to do, despite the fact that the ones to be killed don't want to die? And we are not even discussing about injured animals, etc., and even then the most humane thing would be to do everything to save the life of the injured, as we do with Homo sapiens too.

romeo22 05-13-2015 11:41 AM

Nice.... i expected too see swordfish or its too early for that

Catch and release serves no purpose, other than feeding the persons ego:2 cents:

It is fishing. The whole process is totally the same to the point where you either release your catch or kill and keep it. As the whole point in most forms of recreational fishing is not to get food on the table, it really doesn't make that much difference whether you keep the catch or not.

Our ancestors didn't fish that much with a rod and a line, because it isn't very good way to get food on the table and with energy efficient way. Today's fishing is mostly just for the fun and the eating part is more like just a by-product.

So in simple; it serves the purpose of a hobby, recreational activity. And the ego part would be just as fine. I don't care that much about people's motives for what they do for leisure, as long as it isn't particularly harmful activity, and this isn't.

just so I understand what you are saying.... your idea around this is that catch and release is not a harmful activity, it is a hobby or recreational activity?

Yes, it is hobby/ recreational activity by definition, as is any leisure fishing, and for the fishes it is less harmful than killing. Of course it is not harmless, but there isn't a form of fishing that would be harmless for the fishes. Or for the worms or maggots, if you use those as a bait.
