A week's vaca in Qweebec City...

We hit the road 5am Wed. morning for Qweebec City - doing the tourist thang for the week...hoping to get some great photography done in the old city. Take in some local french cuisine.

By the weekend we may jaunt over to Montreal...and then to Ottawa for the last two days.

My elementary school francais is extremely rusty - but hopefully I'll have the opportunity to say, "My pencilcase is blue" in french. Keepin' my fingers crossed.

Looking forward to some time away - much needed decompression. :)

i don't know how well you know Ottawa, but the Bytown market downtown is always a great place to visit. Lots of nice restaurants and fresh market types stands. Be sure to walk behind the Parliament and Chateau Laurier to see the river between Quebec and Ontario. It's a pretty nice view from both sides!

You'll love Quebec City - very beautiful place. Just make sure you save some beer money for Montreal. If you've never been here before, the places you may want to check out are

(for Casual pubs)
Winston Churchill Pub downstairs or Winnies Pub upstairs on Crescent
Irish Embassy Pub on Bishop Street
Hurley's pub on Crescent Street
Brutopia, also on Crescent.

If you like upscale bars, you'll find some on Crescent street too, north of St. Catherine street.

If you like Rock & Metal, check out Foufounes Electrique on St. Catherine street, just east of St. Lawrence street.

There are also lots of bars on St. Laurence Street just North of Sherbrooke.

All of the places on Cresent and Bishop are within walking distance of each other. St. Laurence & Sherbrooke is a 10 minute taxi.

Have fun!

Thanks Mark. I'll definitely keep those places in mind. I've been to Montreal a dozen times or more...but not on vacation. Not sure how much time we'll have in Montreal...it'll depend on the family's boredom threshold in Quebec City. :winkwink:

First full day...helluva lot of walking. Took in Montmorency Falls and old Quebec town. Had an amazing lunch in Quebec's oldest restaurant. Taken a few hundred shots so far. Qweebec drivers are insane...just the way I remember them. Hotel is fab.

Not as impressive as Niagara, but different. Good photo op. Tomorrow we're shooting the grafitti artwork downtown on Charest Blvd.

Today we checked out a big flea market, a mega shopping mall with an indoor ice rink and amusement park, then a second waterfall downtown. And some fab photos of grafitti artwork. Busy day. Tomorrow we're goin' fishing at Quebec Aquarium.
