the crazy part is , i went to purchase windows 10 on ms site and they were giving it for free idk why.

You still need a product key from a previous version, so it's not free for all. Free upgrade.

Nothing is free, there must be plenty of catches Microsoft put into this.

This is because the operating system isn't worth nearly as much as what the content it delivers can make. Microsoft has put search right on the desktop (an attempt to take away from Google), and has a store right on the main desktop.

Windows 10 will put their store on every desktop. Eventually this will be taking on Amazon.

After trying it since the release I can tell you that it is a work in progress and I would strongly recommend that you wait at least a couple of months while they collect all of the crash info and release bug fixes.

In all fairness, it must be remembered that unlike Apple which controls its hardware and can therefore release a perfectly optimized OS...Microsoft must produce an adaptable and vibrant OS that is capable of running on a nearly endless number of possible equipment and configurations.

Frankly it is quite a technical accomplishment to do what Microsoft has done over the years and they have truly brought personal computers to the world.
