Bad Business

Last month I bought a product online that I really liked. Tonight I decided to check out their website to see if they had anything new. Sure enough, they did. Oddly enough, they didn't bother to email their clients about it.

In an age where we are trying to squeeze every last dollar from customers it amazes me that so many people aren't bothering to email their own customers.

stoka 08-10-2015 01:05 AM

what's the product?

Phoenix 08-10-2015 01:08 AM

Why don't you pitch them a solution?

AdultKing 08-10-2015 01:09 AM

It depends on the product, sometimes emailing can be counterproductive.

If I had to work, and had the skills some of you have. I would be looking for small businesses with an online presence that was below par or none at all.

I watch programs like Dragon's Den, and there are 100s if not 1,000s of businesses near us that could do with some real online marketing consultancy.

As a person suffering from Celiac Disease, means I can't eat Gluten, I tried Schar's Bread and flour. Good stuff. Look at their website.

No mail order, no local stockist and for a company this big a pretty poor site.

There are lots of businesses that only need a good online marketing strategy to make them boom.

The company is called Waterfield Designs (sfbags.com). They are a local company who gets a fair amount of press coverage, great products, etc.

Turns out they do send out emails; I got one this morning. I think some of their emails went to spam.

I am still looking for a good ADULT email solution. I am willing to try YNOT again but the prices are way too high for far too few emails sent.

Can we do something about this? :)

Are email services for adult somehow restricted/ hard to find? I have used just some local Finnish services and I don't remember any fine prints about adult stuff.

Well I don't know about Finland but here in America there are all kinds of SPAM rules and certain words being banned or will get you flagged or not make it to the Inbox, etc. I tried Mail Chimp because I liked how many emails they will send for a monthly fee BUT after I paid for my first month they refunded me (and never sent my email, which contained zero nudity) saying they don't do Adult. :(

Anyway YNOT is top notch. Just have to work out the details. :)

YNOT Mail is made for adult so it's really not an issue.

Most of the mainstream companies that email me after a purchase just spam the hell outta me and then I just unsubscribe. Usually on the unsubscribe page says do ya wanna reduce email frequency instead of unsubscribing but at that point kinda fuck off pissed off already. Not sure why they believe sending daily or multiple emails every week after 1 purchase will pan out well in retention terms. :2 cents:

That's not good for customer retention.

We too have rules about spamming, but I wasn't referring to spamming. I was referring to doing legitimate business, what ever it is. Porn business is totally legal in here, excluding some most brutal stuff, etc.

It is by the way a whole subject how to get your emails into inbox in the most reliable way. Mail opening rates, etc. give some indication about succeeding in this, but is of course just a part of that story, as compelling title, etc. makes a great difference.

Schar's already pays consultants for their marketing. They have a company that handles their media buys. I deal with them on two blogs I manage for clients.
