i've lost count of how many people i see with handicapped parking permits who can easily get into & out of their cars/walk into store. its ridiculous.

I am sorry, but this doesn't mean shit! My dad is a disabled vet. Can walk, but not very far and for not very long. All of this due to service related injuries in Vietnam. So yes, he gets a placard.

agreed, not everyone injured is in a wheelchair and honestly anyone that was injured in War should just be given a placard that says "Shut da fuck up" to hand to anyone that questions them.

I have a placard that I don't use because it's more trouble trying to find a spot than just parking at the other end of the parking lot. So that's what I do.

I had a state trooper harass me once for using one though. That was weird. They regretted it quickly and then made up some BS routine. The look on her face was priceless after she realized what she had done. I highly doubt she will ever harass anyone again after that incident, LOL.

My buddy was hit by a train and is missing both arms and only has one leg. He can still walk though. I guess by this dumb cop's logic he shouldn't be able to use the handicap parking either.

Oddly enough he never uses the handicap parking anyway. But if anyone deserves it, he does.

I have handicapped plates on my car. Bone chips and traumatic arthritis in one ankle, steel plate and 6 screws in one knee, degenerative joint disease in both hips and my spine. Some days I can walk ok, some days I cant. Sometimes I park in a handicap spot, sometimes I dont.

The days that I do would really be the wrong time for someone else to question me about it. Especially that fat cop. My handicap plates and my parking spot are between me, my doctor, and the state. Not some fat cop.

Cop shouldnt have made the calls requesting to run vet's info right there so front in your face like.

In the UK I have a 'blue badge' (Equivalent of a placard) which I use because I am too fat and lazy to walk even short distances...

What's fucking ridiculous is the number of handicap spots here. No shit, ikea has like 30 in front of the front door as if everyone shopping there is disabled. They are always empty.

I drive my 95 year old gran to shops here and there and use the handicap spots, she has the sticker.

I am 100% able bodied, however her dimensia means dropping her off to find a spot elsewhere is out of the question these days.
