Which is the BEST virus you can remember catching?
 

Back in the day - 1998 / 1999 I took my PC to a LAN party (1st and last time ever...) to play some multiplayer game... When I got home, I discovered I had brought back the 'Chernobyl' virus AKA Win98x.CIH



Luckily I was able to get rid of it with Norton before the payload, but it was the worst one I ever caught. What about you?

Back in 1995 I caught the Da Vinci Virus. It was supposed to be a lot worse than it was but me and some of my buddies, Crash Override, Acid Burn, Cereal Killer, and Lord Nikon, to name a few, decided to hack the planet and stop Da Vinci from spreading. Things got a little hectic, but with the help of the world, especially those crazy looking Japs, we managed to wipe it out. :thumbsup

I used to collect virus's. I had 1000's of the things. Never used to use an anti virus either.

I remember playing around with is predecessor too, Back Orifice. Build by CDC (Cult Of The Dead Cow).

My parents installed Koobface. That was an ugly one to get rid of.

Some shit in the mid 90's. Monkey something. Really put the hurt on my collection of AOL nudie pics.

i had "Stoned" on dos6.2. what an ordeal.
there was an other one later that deleted all jpg and mp3 files (in fact it kept the files but with 0 bytes)

I am normally the guy that infects you with a virus. However, this time the stars were in perfect alignment.

On my laptop I have Windows Live Writer installed. Upgrading from IE9 breaks WLW WYSIWYG environment. So I have IE9 on that laptop. But I never use IE9... Ohh.. but I do!

WLW uses the IE engine to download and render your blog's templates when you add them.

So I acquired some blogs from someone and kept them on a separate VPS just for this reason... and when I imported one of them into WLW it ran the virus code that blog was infected with. But... even then it wouldn't have affected me, except for the fact that I was using IE9 and it uses Flash, which is what the virus was attacking. This particular version of the virus only worked when you ran Flash with IE9 or newer. I only use Chrome on the laptop when surfing and Chrome keeps Flash updated for you.

So it began encrypting my shit.

But... I had mapped my network drive to do some file transfers lickity split and forgot to unmap it. So my GF's photo collection got toasted. Which made it the worst virus I ever had to deal with. :)

Measles.

I got to eat ice cream for a week.

Blaster...you could install Windows and get the shutdown message like 1-2 minutes later

I went to a Measles party and brought back Measles, it was pretty good, apparently makes you smarter
