Airplane was found hours ago. There are some reports saying that emergency service can hear screams so maybe there are survivors.

You think ISIS had the intel and the ability to shoot that plane down with a rocket launcher (old Stinger?) doubt that

The passenger jet ?disappeared? over Sinai shortly after takeoff, the Russian aviation agency said. Egyptian authorities said the plane was in the air for about 25 minutes and had reached 31,000 feet before it went down just after sunrise. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...498_story.html
-- Stinger missiles are effective up to 11,500 feet ... Or, did ISIS shoot a passenger plane down randomly with yet to be seen surface to air missiles?

Or, was it some mechanical failure?

How about a secret CIA/Mossad plot to drive the Russian invaders out of the middle east -- and is there any CT info on Youtube :upsidedow Has ISIS claimed responsibility yet?

The cause determination may take a long time if international agencies are allowed to study the wreckage. At any rate, the people that died in this crash were civilian non-combatants -- my condolences to their families regardless of the cause.

Of course we can only speculate ATM - However, we can't rule anything out either...

Russia go in and hit ISIS in Syria and then this over ISIS territory - It just brings them into the frame.....

This all sounds a lot like the discussions on here last July - Definite dejavu...

We are used to think this way. The plane crashes always look scare (this time over 200 people died at once), but in fact car accidents are much more deadly. For example, how many people you knew have died in airliner crashes and how many died driving their cars? Statistics say the one has much more chances to die in the car...

NatalieK 10-31-2015 07:38 AM

The black box says it was mechanical problems, nothing to do with ISIS, unless of course, there's a cover up ?

European airlines have not changed their routes through the Sinai, then it is safe. I think.

I've never known anyone to die in a car accident or plane cash, but I understand your point - flying is much safer than driving.

I just don't like flying. Not afraid of it or anything, just "strongly dislike the inconvenience" of it all. I don't like being in such close quarters to someone for so long unless they are Kate Upton. I don't sleep on planes, which doesn't help.

That's an irrational thing we can't to control. There is nothing wrong with it. My sister is afraid of flights during a whole her life (she can't fly w/o 2 tablets of Phenazepam), or my wife who is afraid of a butterfly. Can you imagine a person who has a panic when sees a butterfly? Those do really exist :)

It's called rational way of thinking. Did I say that crash is not a tragedy? I didn't, because it's definitely is a real tragedy. The only thing I wanted to say is that car accidents are much more deadly than airplane crashes. It's like AIDS. People are scared to get infected with HIV and die of it, but in fact they will die of a heart attack or a cancer. If you ask me how many HIV-positive people I meat during my life, the answer will be ZERO. Ask me how many have died of heart-related problems, cancer and car accidents, and I'll say: A LOT.

I think it may be a language issue in this case - Plane crashes are more 'DEADLY' than car crashes - However, more people die in car crashes...

In the same way that - at least in the early days - AIDS was more deadly than cancer or heart attacks.....

It can take weeks if not months for black box data be retrieved.

1 - IISI claim they did it ( possible)
2 - Egypt said it was technical fault ( how they know it was technical fault)

We wait and see , it will not take long before the real cause arise

I can't agree with you here. Heart attacks and cancer kill much more people than AIDS. At least in my country which is considered as a very HIV-infected one according to Wikipedia. We should understand that almost all HIV-positive people here are heroine junkeys. They just don't live more than 3 years, and that's not because of AIDS. They die because of overdose. A normal straight person can get HIV with a chance less than 0.5% even after sex w/o a condom. You have more chances to be killed by an icicle :)

The Egyptian Army has lots of AA cannon and SAM missiles. It is possible that they may have lost control of some in the Sinai to MB or ISIS insurgents that they have been fighting since the military took control from the Muslim Brotherhood government.

Raw AP reports:

http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2015...he-latest.html

Quote:

12:25 p.m.

Egyptian authorities say the wreckage of a Russian passenger jet has been found in area where Egyptian forces are fighting an Islamic militant insurgency.

Egyptian security forces have been waging major operations against a burgeoning insurgency in the northern Sinai peninsula, including the city of el-Arish. Egyptian officials say the wreckage was found in the Hassana area south of el-Arish.

The long-restive northern Sinai has seen a spike in attacks targeting security forces since the military overthrow of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi in 2013. An Islamic State affiliate has claimed responsibility for many of the deadly attacks. The Egyptian government has restricted journalists' access to the area.
WTF?

Quote:

4:50 p.m.

Russian investigators are searching the Moscow offices of Metrojet, the company whose chartered plane has crashed in Egypt, killing all 224 people aboard.

Officers of Russia's top investigative body, the Investigative Committee, were also questioning Metrojet employees and doing the same at the St. Petersburg-based Brisco tour agency that had contracted for the flight from the resort of Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg.

Spokesman Vladimir Markin also said investigators are taking samples of fuel from the airport in Samara where the plane was last fueled.

The plane crashed Saturday morning in a mountainous region of Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, 70 kilometers (44 miles) south of the city of el-Arish, where Egyptian security forces have for years been battling an Islamic militant insurgency.
Well, these are not official Russian reports ... :upsidedow
