For some reason they are doing lots of crappy tv adverts in the UK.

Are they really so desperate for work?

One is advertising bread, another mobile phones and another for electric goods.

Is it because all the UK actors are going to the USA and taking there jobs?

Because it doesn't affect their domestic appeal. A vast majority of Americans will never one of those commercials, so it doesn't affect their domestic value. It has nothing to do with UK actors taking jobs, it's all about making money in a global market without shitting where you eat.

plenty of yooge american actors are in domestic commercials, johnny depp, matt mchuaghaney, jennifer aniston, et al.

Why American Actors are shooting TV commercials in the UK

If you look at the commercials the actors you listed appear, it strengthens their "Brand". Depp in a dark, disconnected cologne ad for Sauvage Dior. McConaughey's driving with class in a Lincoln (a play off his hit movie The Lincoln Lawyer, I assume). You see how those only go to strengthen their appeal? Reinforce their brand?

You'll never see them in a commercial for Tide, or products that diminish their appeal.

have you seen the depp commercial? it's a joke. the mchaughaney commericial with cyrus the bull is not far behind.

nevertheless, it has nothing to do with uk actors taking us acting gigs or us actors desperate for cash.

Cyrus the bull makes a lot of sense. McConaughey is a HUGE Longhorns fan. I think he attends almost every home game, contributes a lot of money to the program, and is very vocal about his support. Strengthening his brand. :winkwink: :thumbsup

i'm with ya, he went to UT and was discovered there, first flick dazed and confused about growing up in Austin, i get it. nevertheless, it's a retarded commercial (all of them are really) and very few people would make the longhorn connection or appreciate it as brand builder.
