Canadians - ready for another gun registry?

I thought the first couple billion we wasted on the last one that was scrapped was enough. Apparently not. I'll bury my guns in a wooden crate in my backyard before I register them again.

Sounds like if this goes through it will be for new gun sales only....for now.

funny that you should mention the spy bill..

considering what these guys are trying to do/have done is compile the names, addresses and inventory of all the small arms sold in any given area.

considering these 'home grown terrorists' and other bullshit going on, who's bright idea was it to compile all this information in one convenient location?

Yeah I thought the only good thing harper did was destroy that program. Such a waste of money.

MetaMan 12-31-2015 07:49 AM

New governent program
Burn millions/billions creating new departments
Give more useless government employees pension
Swindle millions to cronies
Complain to population about lack of funding. Increase taxes.
Rinse and repeat

Anyone wanting the government TO DO ANYTHING should be smacked. Its the same game everytime. When a government tells me they will do almost NOTHING. Thats the party i want to vote for.

Kinda of dumb. Gun registry should be as easy as registering a car. (Should also be mandatory, like registering a car, but hey...)

Vendzilla 12-31-2015 10:29 AM

Only one reason for more registration, so they know where to go to take them away from you!

I just don't understand what it is supposed to achieve. The argument for the old registry was that it was a tool for law enforcement...if a cop showed up at your house for a domestic violence call he could look on his computer and figure out what guns you had in the house. Of course this completely ignored the fact that criminals don't register illegal guns. But at least they had something to try and justify it.

What's the purpose of registering them only when a gun is sold? They'll still have no record of any of my old guns. Just more wasted money to store a bunch of completely useless data.

Maybe the article is complete bunk as I can't even see Trudeau being that stupid. Either they all have to be registered, or none.

It's not practical to demand all guns be registered. New guns, though, would "get the rolling." Over time if that showed results, they would have a stronger argument for registering all guns. And even if it didn't show results, they could say "hey now we have a system in place, let's move forward and register everything."

Small chips of a big ice block.

It's not practical, but that's what they made us do with the old registry. We all had to fill out paperwork to register our old guns. Then they scrapped it after forcing everyone to put up with that headache, and now want to start over, They're just awful.
