Favorite Albums of 2015?

I got into this discussion last night. 2015 had a lot of great music.

Since I work in front of the computer like most of you I listen to a ton of music while typing away. I would love to hear your favorite albums of 2015 so I can hopefully check out some new music :-)

That being said a couple of albums really stood out for me in terms of sound and being good from start to finish.

Alabama Shakes - Sound and Color

Girlband - Holding Hands with Jamie

I buy mp3 albums still for my tablet/ phone This year I didn't buy as much as I have in past years but here is my list and I like them ALL.

It's nice ordering from amazon cause they keep track of what you've bought and you can use it on anything unlike when I had a ipad and itunes only let you use the music you bought on apple devices..

ICP - The Marvelous Missing Link (Lost) - 2015
ICP - The Marvelous Missing Link (Found) - 2015
NWA - Straight Outta Compton - (2002 - Remaster)
Tech N9ne - Special Effects - 2015
Kid Cudi - Man On The Moon: The End Of Day - 2009

Amoeba - Keep the funk alive
local band from here, the guitarist is ma' pal. this album is really something

Oneohtrix Point Never - Garden of Delete
eerie vaporwave/synth/ambient stuff, perfect for working

Faith No More - Sol Invictus
FNM. need i say more?

Jlin - Dark Energy
fucked up beyond recognition, a footwork/juke album from an african-american steelworker girl. dark and pulls you back in while makin' you move.

Iglooghost - Chinese Nü Yr
there's fun to be had. do yourself a favor and listen to it

Kamasi Washington - The Epic
Brainfeeder made jazz cool again.

Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp A Butterfly
Kendrick ft. Flying Lotus, Thundercat, Knxwledge and many more.. this album is a keeper

Hudson Mohawke - Lantern
this is from the future, obv.

Rustie - Evenifudontbelieve
another electronic stuff. a perfect gem before his mental breakdown

DJ PayPal - Buy Now
tongue-in-cheek juke EP

Thundercat - The Beyond / Where The Giants Roam
yeah i'm a sucker for brainfeeder and anything futurejazz.. a beautiful record with a powerful tribute to the late Austin Peralta

that's pretty much it for now. enjoy!

Yep, and he has another one coming out next week - "4 1/2". A collection of songs that didn't make it onto his last two albums. Going to see him at Massey Hall in Toronto in March.

Saw Porcupine Tree at Radio City Music Hall in NYC in 2010. Since then have seen him solo twice - once in Toronto and once in Buffalo. All awesome shows. But Opeth would have been awesome to see too.

i've seen opeth a few times around that time 2003-2005 in toronto. That show however was special in that they did their 'acoustic' album damnation in its entirety. i'd love to see steven solo but the closest he's coming to where i am now is montreal, still a 2 and half hour drive. i wish he'd come to ottawa.

Oh man seeing Damnation live would have been awesome. I'm not really a fan of Opeth's grunting style songs but I really love their mellower stuff and their last couple albums.

Also not sure if you're aware but Opeth just released Deliverance and Damnation in a set with new stereo and 5.1 remixes by none other than Steven Wilson.

Ace Ventura - Paradise Engineering - Iboga Records - CD on Psyshop

I was expecting something super-awesome from Infected Mushroom's Coverting Vegetarians II but it is almost complete shit :( There's a crappy track on it featuring Sasha Grey... But there is one track on it which compensating me [I Love This Track]:

Shitty music is like shitty fast food. If you just eat McDonalds, you think it's good.

Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly was my fav... Closest thing to 90's hip hop in a while.
