So I stumbled across Selenium again - It's this web automation software if you don't already know - I started reading what you can do with it and got carried away - I went outside for a cig and started dreaming about servers all over the world churning out 1000's of web sites and managing 1000's of social accounts...


Anyway, after 9 fucking hours of downloading shit, watching video tutorials, downloading more shit and coding I have an icon on my desktop that can open Chrome and search Google for "free gay porn" - Not what I had in mind.....


I am going to be spending the rest of the evening uninstalling all that shit and trying to forget the whole experience...

I played around with selenium. If you don't need to emulate a browser (or use the browser on your computer) I would just use scrapers with PHP or Python.

If you just want to scrape with a browser use phantomjs, even better use casperjs which uses phantomjs.

i had selenium forum for enthusiast , but it didnt take off.
i dont recall why i installed and played with it., but i did some automation tasks with it.

its a PITA imho, you have to setup and give instructions and all., create a saperate profile on web browser.

Correct, selenium is mainly if you need to test various browser behavior, for classic automation it can be either PHP Curl or phantomjs.
