Who is your Fav Author, based on their entire body of work?

Mine would be Stephen King for all his books collectively, although my fav book would be by Dean Koontz...

What say you?

King and Demille

SilentKnight 02-13-2016 12:09 PM

I've always preferred Koontz over King.

Rob 02-13-2016 12:45 PM

As cheesy as some of her books are, my favorite author is probably Patricia Cornwell, with James Patterson a very close second.

I've read a lot of excellent books by excellent authors, but there isn't enough established work to consider them. Ken Follett wrote an amazing series (Pillars), but the rest of his work sucked. George R.R. Martin with GOT, but that's it. I used to be a huge fan of Clancy, but his stuff just started getting really redundant. Same with Koontz, King, Grisham, et al.

My all time favorite book is Trinity by Leon Uris. :thumbsup

L-Pink 02-13-2016 01:11 PM

I would like to read more of his books, but of the ones I've read, Vincent Bugliosi was a fantastic author.

SBJ 02-13-2016 08:23 PM

The only author that I liked enough to read ALL his work is Harlan Coben. He has a new book coming out next month and I can't wait.

I became a big Heinlein fan in my early teens and read every book.

He had a huge influence on my political views.

King is also great.

I would add Chuck Palahniuk :thumbsup

I'd read any book by any of these authors.

SilentKnight 02-15-2016 09:07 AM

In hindsight - I'd have to say my favorite author was actually Leslie McFarlane (aka Franklin W. Dixon).

As a kid, his books were the ones that got me hooked on reading.

Ah! A kindred spirit then! That is exactly true of me also. We should talk sometime...

I made it this far and was going to post "I'm surprised nobody said Chuck Palahniuk" yet.

I mostly read nonfiction. And for that, I'll go with Robert Greene.

Some of the edgiest sci-fi ever written to day right there. Way ahead of his time during the 40's and 50's especially. He was a mentor to Ray Bradbury as well, another of my all-time fave authors.

King, Grisham, Follet, James A. Michener, Clive Cussler, Orwell, Mark Twain, Thomas Hardy... and an untold number more, I've voraciously eaten up their works over the years.

Stephen King fans, are you familiar with his book The eyes of the dragon? It was a huge deviation from his usual horror stuff, was set in fabled medieval times. It's been probably 30 years since I read it but damn I remember it being really good.

brandonstills 02-17-2016 01:39 AM

Robert Greene (Mastery)
