Pope Francis questions Donald Trump's Christianity - BBC News

Sednub997 02-18-2016 02:42 PM

Thats not good for Trump at all

Tubthumper 02-18-2016 02:45 PM

Pope Francis is a really shitty pope and a total hypocrite. You'd think given his position he'd know that in the Bible, God told Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem in the midst of his enemies while they mocked and ridiculed him. I've read through a lot of the Bible because I was raised protestant and made to go to Sunday school. Not at all religious (I work in porn after all) but I at least know that Pope Francis is conveniently ignoring parts of the Bible for his own agenda.

Scumbag Pope: Says you are un-Christian for having guns and building walls. Sits behind enormous walls surrounded by guns.

Beat me to it. I was actually Google searching for a photo of the Vatican, then saw you already did all the heavy lifting. :thumbsup

Rochard 02-18-2016 04:43 PM

The Vatican is a walled city so... In fact, you could argue the Vatican is the only country completely walled off.

I disagree with the Pope here. Saying we need to build bridges and not walls is very cute. But that won't solve any of our problems.

Most American Catholics have taken what the Popes say with an enormous grain of salt for a long time. I am one of them.

Over history, most Popes have had the common sense to speak with restraint and caution, especially about things outside their expertise. It's called prudence. It avoids making public mistakes and avoids embarrassment.

This Pope has always been a quart low in the prudence department. It can't be explained as the conduct of some well-meaning old fool. He's a Jesuit-trained scholar. Despite all the excuses and modifications his handlers later propose to patch up the public record, he means to upset the applecart. Over and over. And usually in a very left-leaning direction. Coming off the trip to Mexico and the mass at the border, he's presently all pumped up about his ideal of open borders - disregarding the right of nations to provide for their own security, just as the Vatican does on its territory. It makes him look a bit foolish and simpleminded. To Catholics, too. But he is no fool and he's not simple minded. He's trying to sell an agenda and stamp it as the only authentic kind of Christianity. This is a topic that is full of spirited debate by sincere persons, many of whom are Christians, however. He goes way too far in his attempt to label those who don't buy his open borders message as being pagans. And that's what he's saying when he says that those who disagree are not Christians!

So long as Trump does not go further than to defend his beliefs, avoiding personal insult back to the Pope, this little exchange is likely not to affect one Catholic vote. This is, I think, a tempest in a teapot.

Robbie 02-18-2016 06:21 PM

Yet another political gift for trump. His poll numbers will rise even more as will **********s anxiety levels over USA politics.

Liberals.

Liberlism is a religion too.

Original sin? Bad systems

Salvation? Big government of experts that know 'what's good for you'

god? "Tolerance" as defined by liberals (which means being intolerant to opposing views)

How do you atone? Reparations/Affirmative Action/Set asides/ Big budgets/programs

Cause for atheism? It's easy to fall away from such a religion because it never owns up to its failures.

Joshua G 02-18-2016 06:27 PM

this libby left wing partisan pope should put his money where his mouth is. go to san fran, marry some gays, & tell the father of the girl who was murdered last summer by an "unauthorized" immigrant (because using the accurate word- illegal- is heresy to a liberal) that protecting his daughter is less important than "caring" for the poor, even if some of those poor, are murderers & rapists from another country.

clownshoes. :2 cents:

MiamiBoyz 02-18-2016 06:43 PM

You nailed it brother and Trump just sent a message, one that he has been sending all along...he isn't intimidated by anyone, and that message rings with his base.

I don't know that I will vote for Trump or that i wont but I do know that what he and even Bernie to a lesser degree, are doing is LONG past due....Obama promised CHANGE he didnt deliver and the silent majority that usually doesn't vote has been awakened and The DNC and The RNC are completely dumbfounded by it BRAVO! Its way past due

Robbie 02-18-2016 07:17 PM

********** is dumbfounded as well. He and all the rest of the establishment haven't got a clue as to what is really going on.
They just keep trying to label Trump and his supporters with old and outdated thoughts that do not apply to this political revolution.

They are as completely irrelevant as it is possible to be...and they don't even realize it.

Ok. "Hates" is too strong a word. My apologies. Is it safer to say "disappointed" maybe?

Trust me I don't high-five anyone. Especially Fox, especially Cruz. I'm not anti-religion, I'm an atheist, and there's a difference. Just because I don't believe in God doesn't mean I or anyone else should look down on you for your own personal beliefs in a God.

I didn't say that...you misunderstood.

What I am saying is that the way YOU think about Trump's supporters is old and outdated.

In your mind all of his supporters are uneducated white people. The statistics show a MUCH different story. But you don't care to know that...so you don't.

YOU are the one thinking in an old and outdated way. Your school of political thought is obsolete. That's why you can't really figure this out.
Just like the media and the Republican Party can't figure it out.

I'm watching them the other night and they trotted out that same old: "NOW that we are at this stage of the game the voters will get serious about this and reject Trump"

You know...the same thing they said 8 months ago. 7 months ago. 6 months ago...etc.

They are bewildered at what is happening and don't want to accept that the establishment might not be in control this time. And that the OLD political thinking isn't working anymore.

In other words...they are scared of losing their power.

And since you pretty much have blinders on...your political thinking always follows what the establishment tells you. So you too...are bewildered.

Sly 02-18-2016 10:05 PM

Hey guys... doesn't matter. Trump will be gone next week!*
