Erin Andrews Awarded $55 Million Over Nude Peephole Video

On Monday, a jury awarded Fox sportscaster Erin Andrews $55 million in her lawsuit against a stalker and the owner of the Nashville Marriott hotel where said stalker recorded nude videos of her.

Andrews was seeking $75 million in damages for the traumatic 2008 incident which, Andrews?s lawyer argued, happened after the hotel negligently placed her stalker, Michael David Barrett, in the Marriott room directly next to hers. Andrews was in Nashville at the time to cover a September college football game for ESPN. The footage that was secretly recorded through a peephole was subsequently put online and viewed approximately 17 million times around the world, according to the forensic computer expert who testified.

Andrews told the jury that she has suffered depression as a result of the video, and feels humiliated on a daily basis.

?This happens every day of my life,? Andrews testified, according to the Associated Press. ?Either I get a tweet or somebody makes a comment in the paper or somebody sends me a still video to my Twitter or someone screams it at me in the stands and I?m right back to this. I feel so embarrassed and I am so ashamed.?

Andrews told the jury that she is so haunted by the incident that she has her hotel rooms checked for recording devices when she travels. She also alleged that her former employer ESPN demanded that she do a sit-down interview clarifying that the video was not a publicity stunt before returning to work.

No doubt a man who suffers the same exact violation of their privacy would also be awarded $55 million because this is 2016 and everyone believes in equal rights. That is so refressing.:321GFY

I'd sell the hotel, hide the cash and move where no one cares..

candyflip 03-08-2016 09:40 AM

Because they'll never collect from the guy ($28 million) and then they will negotiate with Marriot, lawyers will take a bit (twice)...she will end up with about $6 million.

MetaMan 03-08-2016 09:47 AM

She naturally has that "cunty" look. She either needs a real man or is a closet lesbian. Probably both.

that precedent protects all people, not just women, but you can't see it that way can you?

yes because courts have never been known to grossly favor women for equal crimes!

This precedent protects NO ONE! and just makes it easier for idiots to find business' liable for things they is actuality had no part of.

My point is that many women and low IQ white knight males are radically gender biased in court regardless if it is in family, civil,or criminal courts. No way if a man was filmed through a peephole would he be able to get anywhere near $55 million. That judgement is outrageous.

I read an article today about this. First it talked about how she has little chance of getting anything from the guy. The company will appeal and likely negotiate a lower settlement amount.

However, the telling thing to me was they said after the jury announced its verdict and the case was over she went over and hugged the members of the jury, signed autographs and took pictures with some of them. That doesn't sound like a fair, unbiased jury to me.
