Customers with bleeding assholes emailing me every few days with the same question
 

I have seen a couple of people talking about the "FREE" memberships that end up costing upwards of 120 dollars and others 160.
Does anyone else get customers that email you before they sign up asking what their care will really be charged or some form of that question?
In the last month I have had at least 10 if not more that email me before they join asking what will be charged when they join and what charges will take place after.
The shitty part is when I explain to them that they are only being charged for this site only and nothing extra and I even tell them how I hate the sites that add charges you do not see.
After doing that some still do not sign up. It takes the impulse out of it when they have to wait for a reply. I reply to most within 5 minutes.

Yes, i get these emails. People are asking how much the membership is going to end up costing them.

Why doesn't the industry fight the assholes that are killing the biz by fucking over surfers like that? by charging them $150 for a supposedly "free" , "no hidden fees" memberships?

They think they do. Some tell me there was nothing saying anything about any extra charges at all. Two guys told me of charges over 300 and the highest being 365.
I just hate when they ask and we email each other a few times insuring him and they don't join the site. That never happened in the past.
I make it clear and even say on the join page what they are being charged. Since doing that it has helped ratios a great deal but just makes you wonder how many will never join a site again from being ass fucked.

Because the design of the billing page is intentionally as misleading as possible.

There is huge print of "FREE MEMBERSHIP" and "NO HIDDEN FEES" and then there's prechecked boxes with tiny ass fineprint intentionally designed to be hard to notice.

it does say "provide a credit card for registration" so its kinda obvious its not a free offer...I am not defending the false advertising just pointing out the stupidity of users...

this is much more common with low $ trial offers, they sell you a 3 day pass for example for 4$ and then they bill you after 3 days for a further month...they make it seem like its a one time 4$ deposit...

Not everyone is as smart as you as scary as that sounds LOL. Also people joining for the first time have no idea about these things and when they get fucked the first time they are never taking that chance again.

This will be a quiet thread since most are involved in doing this one way or another.
I don't want to give away my secrets but I have changed my join page a dozen times and the way I have it now does more than five times better then my ratio last year.
I bet I have one of the best ratios for a site that is not "free". A lot has to do with some other things I do but the join page helps a lot too.

some don't list the cross-sells anywhere at all.

And people wonder why customers are turning to tubes and torrents and putting their credit cards away.

this is why you don't offer free trials.. You also offer some sort of $99 option and a $5-$10 option above recurring for a non recurring option.

Too many people have been scammed by "free trials" that they would pay a extra $5-10 for non recurring and rejoin down the road if your site was worth it. I learned this from Lightspeed and a guy from Met Art a decade plus ago.. longer non recurring will get you more returning members than honest rebills (Not people that simply forget to cancel). Lightspeed also had a year long cookie so if a non recurring rejoined and didn't clear their cookies often the affiliate got the rejoin.

Yeah but don't these people chargeback these charges? I fucking would (and I hate CBs).

These are the pricing options I have and they work quite well. Some still chargeback anyway but if I offered Trials (or rebills only) they would go through the roof.

I got a $99 ftvgirls signup a month or two ago that has yet to chargeback.. All the years I ran my program my CB ratio was never that high.. The CBs I got were 3 or 4 mos from people that forgot they didn't cancel or maybe wives CB when they found out the husband paid for porn..

CBs are just part of the biz, so is hearing from surfers that they are tired of getting scammed.. But if you don't offer deals too good to be true IE free trials they shouldn't need to question you as much.
