What is the best forum platform out there?
 

What I want to know is what is the best forum out there in terms of being easy to use, not requiring much technical setup and offering all of the normal features that users and admins like.

Is Vbulletin really the best one or is there another option you guys have had good experiences with?

easy to setup and all necessary options to run.

phpbb

For free, you can test out phpbb,bbpress, MyBB and Simple Machines.
For paid options the best IMO are XenForo and Invision Power Board. flarum looks good as well.

Facebook is always an option.

I've used phpBB for years and like it.

Would be interested in trying a wordpress based forum but haven't found anything yet.

Then try bbpress (very easy in use but lacks basic forums features, but you can install some plugins which can do the job).
