Legal Highs Now Banned in UK
 

A blanket ban on so-called legal highs has come into force in the UK.

Laws criminalising the production, distribution, sale and supply of what are otherwise known as new psychoactive substances began at midnight.

The chemicals, sold under names such as spice and black mamba, are designed to give users the same effect as drugs such as cannabis and cocaine.

Last year legal highs were linked to more than 100 deaths in the UK and a rise in violent assaults in prison.

Offenders who break the new laws will face up to seven years in prison under the Psychoactive Substances Act.

Police will also be able to shut down "headshops" - stores which sells drug paraphernalia - and online dealers in the UK.

They are banned in Poland too - and with good reason. Those synthetic drugs are so fucked up.

And so they should be. these things are dangerous, unregulated and uncontrolled.

Agreed. Smoking is being tackled, the fight on reducing alcohol consumption has a long way to go.

Of tax them so the damage they do is paid for via the taxes.

I've tried legal highs a few times & can say I was so amazed how something so strong could be so legal!

The high was twice as strong, lasted twice as long & was half the cost, not to forget legal... like wtf. Yes, banning is a good idea :2 cents:

Legal highs are more of a problem than illegal highs with the reason they're legal. Young people think they can purchase them & get high, by the quantity, not realizing they can still overdose like you can with drink or illegal drugs. This is the problem :2 cents:
