Powerlifting: Fuck the IPF
IPF Worlds 2016
As someone who has competed in powerlifting competitions in multiple other federations, I have never seen such scrawny and unprepared spotters in any other meet - especially one that is supposed to be a World Championship event. One of the spotters looks to be a teenager weighing 130 pounds at best! I know that accidents happen and all, but this looks to me to be a shocking lack of disregard for the safety of the lifters - especially from the federation that charges large fees to check and approve equipment in the name of "safety." Apparently the spotters were all unpaid volunteers - how fucking cheap can the IPF be? And instead of apologizing, they are deleting references to it on their social media and banning anyone who tries to bring it up. I think even non lifters could watch this video and be appalled. |
what's your total?
looks dangerous
at first I thought you were exaggerating a bit, but damn, you are right, those were some incompetent spotters there..
That shit is ridiculous. Most people at a regular gym wouldn't ask those guys for a spot, and they've got the job at a powerlifting competition?
A guy I lift with at my local gym is a powerlifter and absolutely hates that federation. Makes sense now.
Whoa thats pretty bad. I imagine you sign something that says you are effed if you hurt yourself too? Even though they provide less than adequate supervision?
Lol damn :1orglaugh Did they post an ad on Kajiji orom something? How did they find these guys :1orglaugh:1orglaugh
About the only way that could have been worse is if one of the spotters was playing Pokémon Go at the time.
jesus come on little guy...
yep, good way to get someone hurt
