unless they throttle or limit the bandwidth you could rip the entire sites in 24 hrs....and if they do that Im sure the only people who might have joined would think that was the normal speed/bandwidth limit and not join, I just dont see how this wins....

A week from now these same companies will be sending hundreds of DMCA requests...

Is this sustainable in the long term? How does this benefit the mid-size small productions or those who do not run tubes?

I see their point.. free tube day so people will download the shit out of the others who follo and then they'll upload it to the tubes

Basically "let's get others get content ripped off then make them spend money on DMCA"

Love the idea.

Not sure if its open as in no password or credit card needed.

Or as in you need to use your credit card to prove your age (I think that may put many off).

The results will be interesting.

(1) will it just crash peoples servers with thousands downloading the footage free.

also will it simply end up pirated.

(2) will it convert to sales. Or will people download everything then leave.

What is confusing is "The sites will be offering rock-bottom upsell prices to convert these fans into paying customers."

This suggests that only a small amount will be free.

Good idea -- a feeding frenzy

A few more thoughts.

(1) It will be interesting to see how this is promoted.

(2) It may be a good promotion model for affiliates to use.

(3) Will people simply not join sites until Sept 8th. It would be interesting to see if the effect will be to reduce sales (on all porn sites even those that are not taking part) until Sept 8th.

No sites (that I'm aware of) are allowing download via Free Porn Day, only streaming. So in theory, the biggest risk is someone grabbing the stream, but that's in real-time. Yes, they could fire up an AWS cluster to capture 500 streams, but that seems unlikely.

Looking at it realistically, for a promotional join price (say $9.99) someone could join Evil Angel and download the whole MA. We discussed this quite a bit among several participants, but none of us thought the risk was substantially different than any other day.

Nope, most or all of the MA will be free for streaming (at Evil Angel it will be all), the upsell is for after Free Porn Day expires at midnight.

I think more sites that join in the better.

And perhaps some official merchandise too.

What you could do is get some t-shirts made up and sent to all those who want to take part so they can get there models wearing them as part of the promotion (have they take pics and vids of them in the t-shirts).

The danger being is if a sneaky site goes from free to pay within an hour of the day as they would be getting tons of free hits and could misuse it.

You will need to have some plan to deal with that situation.

It may be worth putting that its Sept 8th 2016 on the site too, as well as the social media links for people to re-post the site.

Sorry but this is absolutely insane. Yeah, let's put into the minds of potential Members EVEN MORE the idea of 'free'.

This is called desperation and I think it is WILDLY wrong. But go ahead and see. LOL

Great suggestion, thanks. We're planning a few photo shoots with top adult stars to use for marketing materials, but the more images we can get, certainly the better.

Get them to post on twitter and non nude on other social mediums with the #FreePornDay
as it would be a great way to get lots of hits for all involved.

Also think of a way that non porn sites could be involved. Such as sex toy sites, such as doing 10% off that day. Or a free gift when they buy somthing.

That's definitely in the social media marketing plan :)

We're happy to include pretty much any site that brings value to the experience - toys, cams, dating, whatever. FPD is really built to be an industry-wide inclusive event, not for a few companies to hoard traffic.

One thing is you need to get moving on things.

Sept 8th is not long away.

You are looking at about 1 month and 2 weeks.

So you will need to get stuff sent out as soon as you can, otherwise before you know it, it will be Sept 8th.

If you are planning on getting t-shirts done, they need to be done by Aug 1st, as then you have to send them out (lets say that takes 7 days to deliver), then models need to be shot in them (that may take a week or two to book models and shoot them). By the time they are photographed and uploaded to twitter and so on, your almost at the start of Sept.

And the problem then is sites that may want to take part may only have noticed this promotion.

So things need to move fast now. As in urgent.

You may have set Sept 8th as a bit too soon.

Also magazines may not get the story in time for publication before the event.

You realy need pics of models in #FreePornDay t-shirts circulated as soon as you can to all the media.

One thought too is it may be worth doing a pdf thing for advice to webmasters on how best to do this.

For instance if you run a ccbill site, how would you best set it up for 24 hours for free content.

Perhaps even contacting such as ccbill to see if they could set up an option where for 24 hours the site becomes free for all those wishing to take part.

Plus any other advice on the subject.

if they print this in the print version (i think they still are in print) then your going to have a vast amount of people seeing this and going to the site.
