Warning for Amerinoc customers using their backup service
What's the best host that takes adult?
Amerinoc just cancelled the backup service for servers with no notice, and no backup service to replace it. Just got this email: Backup service discontinued Dear Customer: AmeriNOC has decided to discontinue our current backup service offering. We have determined that the current platform is unable to provide the level of service that we deem appropriate. We will not continue to provide a service that we feel is inadequate. As a result we have cancelled the backup service you had. A pro-rated refund was provided as credit on your account. We are investigating other solutions to provide backup service again in the future and will make an announcement once we have a new product in place. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. Thank you, AmeriNOC |
I use M3Server.
Check my sig for special discounted pricing :thumbsup |
I use vacares.com. I don't know if they offer it for all accounts but my account has free backup.
I've also been with Amerinoc for probably 15 years or so since they first started and were called phatservers. The service used to be top of the line but with their recent change of datacenters/ownership and outages I'm not very pleased with the service. Hopefully things get better. |

Amerinoc sold to another company last month, or minimally their whois all changed to a new company. I've been with them since they were Phatservers since '04 but I'm big on security & getting advanced notice of change. |

That's nuts they just canceled backups with no heads up. I've got backups with vacares and been happy with the results

We are sensing this is from last few weeks that Amerinoc sold to some one else and now owned by some other guys... Without BackUP service its a big risk to carry on with them. We beleive its time to say Good Bye to Amerinoc after 16 years with them....

Thank you everyone for you're suggestions I've been looking into them! :thumbsup |
I nearly dropped my coffee when I read this. It seems strangely and frighteningly low on detail.
Do we have access to existing backups during the transition? Will there be a transition? If I want to fly without a parachute I may as well go OVH. |

I am so happy with mojo. Check them out.

You should always be taking your own backups.
|
Get a cheap server at heztner or soyoustart.com and setup rsnapshot on it... That's what I did, was cheapest solution.
|
At this moment in time i have every site moved to new host but half my sites dont work since they have been transferred. If i have to get someone to fix each site im going to go out of business.

Then again it's not unknown for managed hosts to drop the ball, and discover - right at a critical point - that their backups don't actually work. |

Did anyone get a refund for the backup cancellation??
|
We used them back in the day and they were great. Sad to see a once great company failing.
