Why Obama Not in Presidential Race Elections 2016

Sorry for dumb question but I am not from USA.

Obama term ends in 2017. Why is he not in the election race?

Is it because he doesn't want to or another reason? Thanks.

crockett 08-07-2016 02:57 PM

A elected president can only do two terms. The only exception, is if he were the vice president and became the president due to the actual president dying or being removed from office. If that were to happen it wouldn't count as part of the 2 term limit.

Smack dat 08-07-2016 03:04 PM

So, what even if he was super amazing and everyone loved him and thought he was the best president ever he could still only do 2 terms?

That kind of sucks.

95% of Americans love Obama and wish he could serve more terms. The negative voices about Obama are a very loud small number of people.

Because we are sick of the black bastard and can't wait to see him outta there.

Oh, and yes, only 2 terms allowed anyway.

escorpio 08-07-2016 05:41 PM

95%? You really should check yourself into a mental institution!

I did not know this really.

LooneyGoose 08-07-2016 06:27 PM

95%...whaaaat!

Not sure where you got that information, but its far less than 95%.

Yes....2 terms, thankfully. Can you imagine if the last Bush could've stayed in power, faaaack.

Interestingly enough, with as shitty as both candidates are in this election, I bet if Obama could run for a third term he would win.

SilentKnight 08-07-2016 10:43 PM

If Trump loses in Nov. and Kevin Spacey doesn't return for a fifth season of House of Cards, Trump could slide right in and play Frank Underwood...no problem.

Mutt 08-07-2016 10:51 PM

He has the highest approval rating of any president at this point in his presidency since Bill Clinton, 54%, he'd wipe the floor with both Hillary and Trump. Trump had his chance, could not control himself, I personally think he's sabotaging himself on purpose, perhaps subconsciously.

no. he's just born rich & spoiled his entire life. nobody ever said no to him, nobody ever said, dont say that. Now that he has to limit himself to rise to the status of the office, he cant do it.

he can build buildings but he cant control the words that come out of his twitter.

in fairness - we are so used to the smooth lies of professional pols its jarring, or refreshing, for a candidate to have candor. its his first run for office.

:2 cents:

All politicians should have term limits, especially congress.

That kind of sucks.

Many Americans also think it 'sucks', including some past Presidents. But it's the law, and there are in fact reasons for it being in place. Plenty of links exist if you'd care to read

You got that right. Term limit all the lying, corrupt bums.

flashfire 08-08-2016 12:17 PM

95% would not vote of Obama however in a 3 horse race with Hillary and Trump he would take it easily

to be fair though I likely would as well
