Guy Gets Upgraded To First Class On Flight ($21k)

Guy on an Emirates flight (Dubai to New York) gets upgraded to First Class on a seat worth $21,000 USD

(No doubt because his YouTube channel is multi-viral, lucky bastard!)

Horatio Caine 09-23-2016 03:58 PM

Not very original. He's replicating well known travel bloggers. Didn't get an upgrade, just one way ticket on miles through credit card churning.
Lame :2 cents:

Would you refer to Malaysia Airlines as being unlucky? Serious question

I fly business class regularly on Emirates and got upgraded to first a few times.
Also if you fly Business class a few times you have enough miles to upgrade to first for a leg. Their first class is very nice, especially with the shower.

I know the question wasn't to me, but I've flown Malaysia Airlines dozens of times, mostly flights of 5 hours or less.

They are very unlucky.

Bad luck that Flight MH370 was most likely crashed intentionally by a suicidal pilot. Same thing happened to the Germanwings flight except that guy threw up all kinds of red flags that were ignored. The Malaysian pilot was more discreet.

Bad luck also on MH17. Was the airspace safe? Obviously not for that flight. But it was considered safe enough that Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa also used the same airspace. Those are two very good airlines.

So yeah, bad luck IMO. I'll keep using them. Great service on the flights, nice planes, great lounge in KL, very reasonable Business Class fares.

he is like celebrity/.

LetterTwenty7 09-24-2016 01:33 AM

Just saw this the other day and found out about Casey Neistat. He is kinda famous, and his vids are not bad, I have to admit. He became popular a couple of years ago when he mentioned some of the iphone flaws and posted it to youtube. But he is very rich so sometimes I find it hard to believe him.

CurrentlySober 09-24-2016 03:39 AM

I used to fly often as Business class with Virgin Atlantic back and forth to LA. One time they bumped us up to 1st ! Nice trip :)

Where did you get that from? Original flight paid for by YouTube. I haven't spoken to him but I think it's more likely he got upgraded because of his 'celebrity' status on social media. It happens to him all of the time once they realise who he is.

Paul Markham 09-24-2016 06:19 AM

I got upgraded years ago. Had to miss the flight I was booked on and stay overnight in a hotel, paid for by BA. Well worth it for the experience. Different world in 1st.

CaptainHowdy 09-24-2016 07:32 AM

I was bored enough to actually watch this. Thanks.

MrBottomTooth 09-24-2016 07:45 AM

For some reason I want to punch him in the face. At first I thought it was because of his huge nose, but then I realized it was because he showered with his watch and sunglasses on.

Tasty1 09-24-2016 07:54 AM

I never got an upgrade, i always walk into the plane as last passenger and ususally can get 2 or 3 seats just for myself.
Best was a flight from Internext in Las Vegas, 4 seats and slept the whole flight.

Celebrity status? :1orglaugh I had no idea who he was until I saw this topic, most likely Arabs didn't have a fucking clue either.
His target audience is college kids, son. Not those who upgrade revenue passengers and drive you to airport in a limo.
Very same videos have been done my travel bloggers. He's after youtube views. Thats how he makes money. Celebrity my ass :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh
Here's another one of those "celebrities"

Asia in general displays a certain ineptitude when it comes to safety. Across the board with little exception. Few fucks are given.

Come on. Have you ever been to Korea, Malaysia or Japan? Even Air Asia in Malaysia is very different from Air Asia in Thailand.

Nor did I but I do now. Well the video I posted above had a couple million views earlier. Now its approaching 18 million views, more views than a popular TV show in the UK (Top Gear) which topped at around 8m viewers and Casey still hasn't stopped accumulating.

Take a look at the rest of his videos and you'll see MANY with multi-million views. He's one of the most popular video bloggers on youtube and he is a celebrity without a shadow of a doubt.

The question is, do we call you Horatio or Hateratio? :1orglaugh

I don't give a shit what you call me. He is getting views because of videos like this one. And he simply copied what other people in travel industry did. Like ThePointsGuy. :1orglaugh
Next he will do his own "picking up girls in Ferrari" prank and morons like you will watch it 10 million times. The bottom line is anyone can do it. Well anyone with a little bit of creativity and good credit history. No need to lie on youtube how "you got upgraded" and your "celeb status".
I'll help you out and perhaps you too can fly in First once. Right now Chase Sapphire Reserve is offering 100K Ultimate Rewards Points credit card. It has $450 annual fee but its well worth it. Since your credit score is probably in low 200's you should convince your parents to apply for this card. Once you get your chase UR points, you can transfer them to airline of your choice. So thank me later, son.

I have flown Singapore first class suite and felt claustrophobic in the there. Would rather have an open space. And yes, most of my trips in first or business came on miles or buying one or two class upgrades. Cheers :1orglaugh

Air Asia Malaysia blows away Air Asia Thailand and forget about Air Asia Indonesia.

Every now and then I'll fly Malindo Air because they fly out of the small airport 15 minutes from my house. It didn't inspire confidence when I read in the in-flight magazine how a woman went from part-time shoe promotor to Malindo's publication department until they needed a pilot!

I can do around the world in 1st if I wanted to. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh
Would you like to see some pictures from JAL's first class I flew this summer?

One thing I remember from flying Air Asia in Indonesia is asking their CSR guy how much longer we have to wait and hear "Don't worry , sir. The delay is on schedule". :1orglaugh

EddyTheDog 09-25-2016 02:28 AM

Well he didn't get the upgrade because of his good looks that's for sure...

Yes, I am a little jealous.....

Thanks - I've flown Malindo a few times.

I won't be flying again with them.
