Bad news at every turn...What motivates and keeps you going?

So we've been having some bad news this week from all over (hurricanes, violent sex crimes, scandals, financial scams, losses etc) so I'm wondering when news are shit and when you're not doing so well what keeps you going?

As for myself, I like to watch those "rah rah, you can do it!" motivational videos like this one by Tony Robbins:

I know, I know but sometimes a person needs to hear it for their own sanity and self preservation :2 cents: What about you GFY?

AmeliaG 10-07-2016 01:41 PM

I decided to abstain from reading or commenting on or discussing politics or outrage news some time back and I highly recommend this for both productivity and happiness.

Affirmations can be helpful too.

I used to have the same issue but not anymore. Don't watch "News Channels", don't read visit so called news websites. Bad things will happen as long as human being are here on this planet, its non of your business!

TheDynasty 10-07-2016 02:18 PM

no matter how bad anything gets you gotta look at the positives it keeps you motivated!

I am a former Marine, and be sheer virtue I am an extremely positive person. I wake up early every morning to U2's "It's A Beautiful Day" and physically launch myself out of bed. I look forward to each and every day.

I read the news daily, but things like hurricanes, crime stories, financial news do not phase me.

You're not happy. You expect too much.

And if you're ignorant of politics then you won't like the change that's coming. You're like Jewish journalists when they're interviewed on the news. They get such an easy ride that they can't understand why anyone would want to deprive them of that easy ride.

:2 shekels:

Ok, you say bad news you see on tv etc is demotivating you? lol.. none of it has any impact on your personal life, so i'm amazed some news program can have that effect... weird.

You were a Marine?? Wow never knew, how come you never mentioned that before?.......

Tasty1 10-08-2016 06:37 AM

As former smoker i advise, smoke a joint and just relax, and don't get out of bed.

Ugh.... that would make me physically sick... :Oh crap
You really sound like a character out of a bad family movie...

Colmike9 10-08-2016 09:05 AM

If it's not affecting you or someone close to you, then don't worry about it. People die, get hurt, starve, etc. every second of every day. Always happens and always will.
Just keep yourself happy and don't worry about the rest, that's just the media. You should know all of that works... :upsidedow

Check out Stephen Covey's "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People."

Study: Circle of Influence vs Circle of Concern

We are hardwired to spread gossip and bad news, almost like a defense mechanism to keep us away from danger. That explosion in Iraq, though terrible, has minimal impact on 99.9% of our lives. These things should never drag you down, if anything, should inspire you to become a better person so you can create a better community that you live in.

Q: How do you know if the guy sittin' next to you on the barstool is a former marine?

A: Don't worry...if it's Rochard he'll be sure to tell you.

matuloo 10-10-2016 10:31 AM
