U.S. raid in Yemen authorized by Trump: U.S. military official | Reuters
Quote:

A U.S. special forces raid on al Qaeda headquarters in Yemen was authorized by President Donald Trump and was aimed at gathering intelligence about the militant group, a U.S. military official said on Sunday.

The official said American elite forces did not seize any militants or take any prisoners off-site after Saturday's raid, which the Pentagon said killed 14 members of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. U.S. forces carrying out the raid came under fire.

Yes, that is a success.

You are looking at this as an American service man died and it's a disaster. However, you have to look at the goals and what was accomplished. We killed fifty-seven terrorists, three of them top level, and only lost one man. This was a huge blow to the Al Qaeda leadership in Yemen, and perhaps most importantly this was a massive physiological blow too - We sent a strong and clear message to physiological around the world that we can strike out at them at any time and kill them.

If you want to know what a disaster looks like when it comes to military strikes, check out Operation Eagle Claw: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Eagle_Claw

"The official said American elite forces did not seize any militants or take any prisoners off-site after Saturday's raid, which the Pentagon said killed 14 members of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. U.S. forces carrying out the raid came under fire. ^^^"

They didn't get shit?

No mention was made of documents, etc.

This is hardly the same as 'eagle claw' I remember that well. The military was demoralized from the loss in Vietnam and using very iffy equipment. I am assuming today this was Delta Force, Seals or some specialized commandos. I don't think they are celebrating any big win today.

Yemen's a joke. This was all about provoking Iran. Better to have had a US warship '' blow an Iranian gunboat out of the water" no American would have died.

9 days in office and his first military mission complete.

Redhats take no responsibility for their actions always blame someone else or downplay. Its not until their new leader is anointed that they will trash the previous one and all his fuckups.

You have to remember in situations like this... We rarely know a fraction of the truth. Different sources are telling us different things.

The original reports said up to 57 terrorists dead, three of whom were top Al Qaeda terrorists.

A total of 14 fighters from Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula were killed in the assault, and U.S. service members captured "information that will likely provide insight into the planning of future terror plots," according to the military.

US Navy SEAL killed, 3 injured in raid on Al Qaeda in Yemen | Fox News

No matter what source you use or what they said, we killed a dozen people and only suffered the lost of one life. (We also lost an Osprey, but that's not a big deal.) Still acceptable losses, damage inflicted, information gathered, and a very strong message sent to terrorists around the world.

Everyone here on GFY knows I am dead set against Trump, but this isn't about Trump. Most likely these plans were in place before Trump took office. Politics and military are two different things. This was a win for the good guys.

what your "boys" are doing at the moment is a fucking big propaganda in countries what do not have that much terrorists yet. thatīs a fucking wake up call for muslims all over the world who did not terrorize the world yet.

hey - we talk about 1,6 BILLION against 170 million of you (if that number is not FAR too high because many trump-voters already regret their desicon)

not you and unfortunatley also not other americans what ar not haters will do a step into another country without getting killed.
believe me - the number of US victims of terror will dramaticly increase from now on and you will not stop them doing it because each of them have 10 or 12 children what will kill your children.
as more you hate them as more they become.

you saw already in vietnam that you canīt win a war against people who really hate you from their heart and do not care to die for their idea.
why do you want that prove again?

and if that day comes whe america is fighting again a unnessecary war do you really think that europa and the NATO can help you?
the europeans would fire every gouverment within a day what sends troops into a trump-war.

The Middle East wars are about the control of oil. What would happen if America spent that $20+ Billion on basic energy research instead of the fucking wall?

The USA might not need oil from the Middle East. Russia has lots of oil they don't need the Middle East bullshit either.

Let the Europeans and the Asians deal with the Oil Sheiks on their own ...

But Boris tweeted a Foreign Office statement which clarified what Trump's executive order will mean in practice.

It read: "If you are a dual citizen of one of those countries travelling to the US from OUTSIDE those countries then the order does not apply to you.

"The only dual nationals who might have extra checks are those coming from one of the seven countries themselves ? for example a UK-Libya dual national coming from Libya to the US."

europe is MUCH further in that as you think.

my father in law lives in south of bavaria (not much sun there) and his solarenergy house is producing more as he can use. he does not spend a cent in energy and is selling the overproduction to the energy company and if you look in his garage you will see a tesla there.

so no electricity costs - no gasoline costs.
and we do not talk from tomorrow - he have that since 5 years already.

germany have meanwhile one of the biggest FREE ecar charging stations worldwide.

the netherlands what where famous for their windmills when i was a child can not beat germany in windmills anymore.
the part of renewable energy in Germany went from 16% in 2010 to nearly 40% in 2016 and in the next 5 years they want to reach the 75% mark.

unfortunately Germany does not have a wall anymore because that would be great to mount some solar collectors on.

Here is how you know that libtards are delusional.

1. The countries on the list of banned migrants/refugees are countries OBAMA's admin deemed terrorist and most dangerous countries.

2. The Yemen attack was a plan put in place by OBAMA's admin! Trump simply okayed the plan since it was in place and ready to go.

3. This is not (just) a Trump "fuckup". Obama has his signature all over this attack. I'm not even sure it is a "fuckup". I'm also not sure I agree with the attack either, regardless of who's plan it was, need more info.

On this one, libby's = hypocrite, triggered idiots.

Holland tries with several methods to accomplish that in 2050.
Cost maybe a little more, but better than oil wars and funding extremist.

Don't let facts get in the way of your hyperbole.

"Obama has ?become the most successful terrorist-hunter in the history of the presidency.? Whereas Bush launched 51 drone strikes against suspected terrorists in Pakistan, for example, Obama has unleashed 372, according to data gathered by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism. (The frequency of such strikes has been declining since 2010, however.) According to the same data set, Obama has authorized at least 112 strikes in Yemen and 19 in Somalia. Bush launched one solitary strike in Yemen during his entire presidency.

Obama has also embraced special-operations forces. In fiscal year 2014, U.S. special-operations forces deployed to 133 countries, or roughly 70 percent of the entire world, The Nation reports. General Joseph Votel, the commander of SOCOM, has said, ?The command is at its absolute zenith. And it is indeed a golden age for special operations.? The size of SOCOM has expanded by almost 25 percent since Obama took office, increasing from 55,800 people to 69,700, according to McGraw at SOCOM."

I am glad it wasn't my ass that didn't come back.
I won't assume he died for a good cause until that is proven.
Too many Americans have died in the Middle East so far so more can keep dying.

======
My point is that Europe and Asia have limited oil resources.
Oil as a fuel is a 100 year old technology that depends on dinosaur slime.
Solar and Hydrogen can put them back on camels living in tents -- let's do it.

Not an alternative fact. It was actually on the MSM today. Also, it takes more than a few days to plan an attack like this.

In all seriousness, this attack is a good scenario for people to stop with the Trump Obama thing. If the MSM is correct that this was an Obama admin plan executed by Trump then people should look at the attack and decide if they agree with the attack itself and not judge it based on whose idea it was. :2 cents:

''Eight-year-old Anwar al-Awlaki, the daughter of U.S.-born Yemeni preacher and al Qaeda ideologue Anwar al-Awlaki, was among the children killed in the raid, according to her grandfather. Her father was killed in a U.S. drone strike in 2011.

"She was hit with a bullet in her neck and suffered for two hours," Nasser al-Awlaki told Reuters. "Why kill children? This is the new (U.S.) administration - it's very sad, a big crime.""
We don't know how this happened but but 10+ (first accounts were 16 ''civilians'') women and children and 14 al Qaeda tells me either the US commandos were shooting indiscriminately or the terrorists were using the women and children as human shields so as to escape.
