Supreme Court rules Obama's appointment practice broke the law
Obama appointed Lafe Solomon to the National Labor Relations Board on an interim basis while also nominating him to fill the position permanently. The position requites senate confirmation. This was Obama's way of getting one of his cronies in right away without having to wait for senate confirmation. The Supreme Court has now ruled the practice to be illegal.

Hundreds of appointees have been hired via recess appointments over the years, 8 of those were Obama's.

Meanwhile, Trump just gave his daughter top secret clearance and a office in the West wing yet she has no job title or no official duty..
Seems the Obama thing was ruled illegal but as Bladewire said, several potus before him did it and did it to a much bigger degree.. Seems it was common practice since Reagan started it.. |
I think this is bad. I think the President should be able to appoint people to a position on a temp basis while waiting their confirmation or whatever. We shouldn't be leaving important positions unfilled.
