Brexit

Is it coming yet?

redwhiteandblue 03-27-2017 12:22 AM

Article 50 expected to be triggered Wednesday.

eric_wahlberg 03-27-2017 12:26 AM

Why worry, already EU is in recession, on top of that there is asylum crisis.

lys11 03-27-2017 02:52 AM

It seems this will be a turning point in the history of the UK and EU

~Ray 03-27-2017 03:01 AM

I am interested in seeing the results as well.

You already can't travel between EU countries with your normal ID anymore......that whole experimental thing is falling apart at an amazing pace, brexit, france's hollande will be out, germany will be VERY close with merkel and her super right wing opponent, all nordic countries veering far right.

I think the Queen has lost the plot in her advanced age. Dangerous times.

for the UK, other than higher costs of importing, higher costs of products, maybe less money for the NHS & schools, allowances, possibly higher taxes & house prices dropping due to no one being able to afford one. The unity of the EU was great for NATO, with the ability to create eurofighter, I suppose those costs will rise for the UK too...

but other than these things, not much should change. Germany, France, Spain, Denmark & all of the other EU countries shall continue to grow & the stability should remain the same for all even inc. the UK.

I see it as pointless amounts of money, time & change to create little change, maybe every country needs to join a world union :2 cents:

Yeah the EU was great for their NATO status, the US footed over 80% of the bill every year and the UN's bill as well. Now they can start paying their fair share. With Russia creeping in closer on eastern Europe every year, I bet you don't want to start suddenly fending for yourself LOL.

On the plus side is a lot fewer people on benefits, higher wages, less spending on other EU countries, less red tape, etc.

People voted out because the EU only benefits the rich and low paid migrants.

bigger question: if brexit happens, will Scotland leave the UK and re-join EU itself? I think it's probable.

Like I say it every time. The EU is made by the same patterns as Soviet Union. The USSR has lasted for 70 years and note my word, the EU won't least that long...

The USA, Canada and Australia were designed much wiser - they mix all nations in a single cauldron.

You do realise that we pay huge tariffs on many things we import from the rest of the world due to EU tariffs? If it weren't for the EU we could import more food and drink from countries like the US, Australia / NZ, Africa if we decided not to impose our own tariffs on them - which we can do once we leave. Thus lowering the cost of food for the British consumer, instead of subsidising French farmers.

You need to stop reading the Guardian.

You must be distraught.

none of this will solve paul markham-ing...the real reason for your economy tanking has not been addressed at all...westerners do not want to employ expensive westerners and do not want to buy expensive western goods...no amount of brexit will fix this...fat people will remain fat...

romeo22 03-28-2017 01:20 PM

They will be officially out of Eu

GFED 03-28-2017 01:35 PM

yeah, some people say that, but I think thats WAY overrated and stupid - at least.
Nobody will send you to GULAG here in EU if you are politically "bad", and yet, strangely - I dont recall any imigrants at all coming in masses into USSR..while they want to come to EU...so what we talk about here ? :)
standard of living here is way way better than it was ever in USSR for most of the people...
please dont talk here about things like free flats in USRR etcx. it doesnt matter overall:)
I think that Europe should be united, it shares the same/similar values, has similar culture and christian/ ancient roots. So that should be preserved for sure. It is also a continent of white people that created these values in last centuries...(with some influence of course from meditterean).
EU/ Europe as a project for sure has its flaws, but its better thinking about reforming it than destroying it...
IMO its better to be united and strong than divided and weak. Yeah, I know - its hard to do if you have like 15 languages in EU and maybe 20 in whole Europe....so thats the main difference here between US and EU.
there is also some "socialist" element in EU that US doesnt have but all governments suck the same donkey balls everywhere...maybe US one even more.
