Has Your Adult Traffic from Twitter Taken a Nose Dive? This Could be Why...
Twitter recently started limiting adult keword search terms like kink, sex, porn, NSFW, BDSM, etc. Some new non adult keyword bans are marijuana & cannibas o.0
Anyone know exactly when this took effect? ---- Twitter Censors Search Terms Now, Offers No Transparency Twitter has quietly started blocking certain words on the platform?s built-in search engine. Words such as ?porn?, ?nsfw?, ?sex? and similar terms will no longer appear when searched. Twitter has upped its censorship game and is now blocking certain terms from showing up on the platform?s built-in search engine. The added filters are part of the company?s plans to reduce harassment on the service. Some of these filters were deployed earlier this month when users were given the option to mute certain types of accounts. As with previous efforts to convert Twitter into a ?safe space,? free from wrongthink and uncomfortable opinions, the company that once branded itself as the ?free speech wing of the free speech party? has offered little transparency on the terms it filters out of its search engine. Furthermore, it?s enabled by default?and the settings to disable ?safe search? are hidden away on the Search page, so you won?t find them with the rest of your account preferences. Users on the platform were quick to discover how looking up certain terms returned zero results. Examples of prohibited terms include ?porn,? ?BDSM,? ?sex,? and ?kink.? Other censored words include ?hentai,? and ?nsfw??neither of which show up in the search results. Curiously, racial slurs like the n-word and terms like ?jihad? still show up unfiltered. I have noticed a massive nosedive in traffic from twitter over the past year.
One other major reason is twitter now allows videos up to 2 min 20 second. People are cutting up videos and posting them in twitter reply threads. It's actually easier to not leave twitter to see porn now whereas before people would click the links and go outside of twitter. I've also noticed that people are RTing and liking posts less often now UNLESS they are 2 min 20 second videos. ALso since the brutally ugly recent change to notifications I have noticed a drop in profile visits and some of the other stats, I think mostly because you now get eye cancer from just looking at your notifications area. |
I haven't noticed but I use mostly camgirl related keywords

I use twitter a great deal for promotion. I don't usually rely on hashtags to get my content circulated widely. Instead I participate in groups or networks where people who have adult accounts agree to like and retweet anything dropped into the group in exchange for their posts also being liked and retweeted by all members in the network.
It is effective but even with this there has recently been actions taken by twitter. In specific, accounts have been blocked for liking too many tweets in one day. Thus far there hasn't been any negative actions taken about retweets, but with the direction they are heading in, I suspect that will just be a matter of time. I really hope that Twitter isn't slowly transforming into something resembling Instagram! I detest their censorship and their so called "Community Standards". Instagram is all about building a community (except your community or any other community we don't approve of). |
