What is the most comfortable office chair?

Since a good portion of us spend many many hours sitting, I'm wondering what office chair you're using and for how long with great comfort?

I'm using a staples, all around mesh chair and this gets uncomfortable after 3-4hrs.

Most comfortable and best for your body over the long term are not necessarily the same thing...

I've got a Herman Miller Embody but I start to get antsy after a full day.

Busty2 04-03-2017 01:46 PM

I find this one very CUNTFARTABLE

Exactly. if you go for most comfortable, you will suffer consequences after few years. Short term gain for long term pain as I know it from my personal expirence or better short term pain for long term gain which could be all those healthy chairs, like Herman Miller embody. I do have this : ?idle Therapia iSuperEnergy XL 8862 (sorry no english). really not comfortable for first few weeks, but then you get used to...

Ok I see what you guys are saying, yes some chairs are not comfortable but they're designed to keep a good posture and if you already have bad posture then it will be painful to adjust.

I heard the Herman Miller Embody is annoying to some because they feel they're getting poked by some parts of the design. Do you recommend it though? There is the Gesture by Steelcase too a little cushier but still ergonomic, the armrests are too mobile though which can be a nuisance to keep in place.

Looks interesting, what chagnes in your posture did you notice after using it, if any? This is probably not available in North America I'm guessing.

Overall I still think it's a fantastic chair. My biggest complaint is the front feels sharp in my lower hamstrings by my kneepits.

I see, by full day I also assume you mean 8-12hrs? I tried it out in a second hand store, just found the bottom not soft enough.

Go check out a Relax the Back store, they have plenty to try out.

pimpmaster9000 04-03-2017 04:27 PM

you can not solve it with just one chair...sitting in the same position all day is not good for you period...you need to combine 3:

1) any chair you have plus a wonder gel pad 100$

2) yoga ball 10$

3) kneel chair 100$

rotate every hour or so...do not sit in the same position all day you will feel much better...

Good suggestion but I'm in Canada and they don't have any locations here.

I was thinking the same that it would be good to rotate some different chairs, the fact you do this, confirms it, thanks! Just fyi, there is a chair that looks odd but some people love it because you can use it in many positions, called the HAG Capisco, I'm inclined to try it out.

Looks sturdy and really cool how the adjustment options are right under the arm rests.

All kinds of positions in one, pretty cool! $6k price tag is high but for some this could be a life saver if they got a bad back and need to work on a computer. I question the laying down position as your arm will be going against gravity , that will probably fatigue the arms pretty quickly I think.

A good back support cushion will make any chair a good chair and as far as your back goes $2 chair or $2000 dolla chair means fuck all.

I've had lower back surgery and have made good coin online for 20 years, so I have no hesitation at throwing any money at a chair.. if it works.

And they all suck, I tried most as an instant cure in the past.

Don't sit in chairs that don't have lower back support, restaurants are notorious for this, tell them to get fucked, why they are getting told.. and leave.

And invest in a back support cushion, they work!

AmeliaG 04-05-2017 12:35 AM

I'd recommend gaming chairs, they are specifically designed for sitting 8-10 hours in them. Go and check out Akracing, Dxracer and Maxnomic. They have a spicy price tag on them, but definitely worth the money, they are really comfy. Also, you can lay back in them by pulling the lever on the right and the chair wont fell over :)

Hope this helps :)

Wow... I've never understood the so called ergonomic chairs..

Any time I sat in one I felt like I had been placed in a mini torture chamber...

Things poking at you, almost hard as rock supposed support... Lol..

Basically like someone took an ironing board cut in up in pieces and put some brightly colored fabric on them...

For me it's old fashioned solid built chair with thick supportive cushioning.

And most important, a flat seating area. This is even something knowledgeable seating industry people agree on. These chairs that have seats which resemble the rolling hills of Vermont are back breakers for me..

This what I got, bought it at wayfair in 2014. They don't sell it anymore but others do.

As another said though, it is good to alternate chairs at times, especially if you are sitting for periods of time as most here are. Even standing at your desk as this is becoming popular can be a good break..

JohnnyNight 04-05-2017 06:31 AM

It is true.

there's been an explosion of people having back related issues since the internet age. none of the general 'office chairs' out there seem to be a fix for people that are constant computer users for 15+ years. save ur back now before u need surgery.

constantly sitting is the worst for the back...and increases chance of colon cancer in future. (gravity keeps the toxins centered in the colon...for longer than they should)

I've been using the same Herman Miller B size Aeron for over 11 years, it was used by somebody else for 7 years before I got it. I've had to replace the armrest adjustment bolts twice and the lumbar support one time both because of bad engineering that's since been corrected on the newer ones.

I wouldn't trade it for the world :2 cents:

Age old advice, thanks for your input. Yeah the thing with sitting is, no matter what it's on, it's compressing the discs of the spine. I know from experience that getting up every 30min or so (can set an alarm on your smartphone) helps elongate the spine and relieve pressure on the discs. However this chair I have for a while has no cushion the mesh is pretty tight. I've bought a lumbar support that looks exactly like this one although this one seems to be used higher up on the back and looks way larger.

That looks comfortable, and has a look like it could be used in a movie.

The remastered Herman Miller Aeron is much better than the old Herman Miller Aeron, way more comfortable I found. It's a contender.
